My New Dell Laptop's Power Cord Stopped Working!!! HELP!!!

Hi, I am wondering if anyone else has had issues with their dell computer? I just bought this 4 months ago, it is brand new and after 3 months the power cord stopped working. I am a college student and my receipt for the computer is back home which is 3 hours away. It works if it is plugged in, but the SECOND it is unplugged it shuts off. And it has become increasingly slower as time progresses. Has anyone else had such terrible issues with a BRAND NEW computer? If so, what did you do to fix it? Is mine still under warranty?

I'm not a computer expert, though I had problems with my laptop before too, it would cost way more if you try to fix it yourself, you might cause some damage, and if you consult a computer tech, you have to pay...so I think that the best solution would be to get your receipt and go to the dealer store that you bought the laptop from, brand new laptops usually has a one year warranty.
