Annoying Popups

What's the deal with all these annoying pop ups and ads lately? My God some of these pages don't even have a way for you to get off of them without doing what they want. This is one of the reasons I left another social site I belonged to. Trying to make a sale by getting on peoples' nerves is not a wise move.

That's why I keep mine disabled. My browser is set so that popups are not allowed. I hate them and I don't want to be bothered while I am surfing. It can be a hassle though on some sites as it has to allow popups to do certain activities. I just allow for that one site.

Like I said to Sanjay though, it's not just the pop ups, it's the redirects that are a pain in the you know what. I've seen where I'm redirected to page after page to the point where I just said, "f*&k it" and just left.

Yes you're right. You never know what these websites are carrying. I use WOT to let me know if a site is safe or not. Most times WOT says these pop ups are dangerous, so even if I didn't find it annoying, I wouldn't look at those sites anyway.

I have done that many times too! It is very frustrating. It is also dangerous because of viruses that can be attached to the popups.

It is really annoying-- I agree. We just have to block those pop-ups if we can have the right software for that.

I do have a pop up blocker enabled, but I think these social sites have some that can get by it. And that doesn't help with page redirects.

I think the sites where a lot of pop ups are there, are scam and they are made just to annoy the people. I hate such people who create such sites, and think they will earn money. They earn it for a while but in long run they will fail. I have a pop up blocker in Chrome.

It's not just the pop ups though. Sometimes when you try to log in, you get redirected to a new page and some of those are impossible to leave; your only options are to continue what they want you to do or close your browser and start over.
