Yeah, that is a very annoying thing with our grandparents. I've read an article written by one psychologist. The article said that people reset to its child life when they reached the age of 70 and above. I don't know what is the reason behind this but i think its because they just need more attention in the fact that they only have enough time to spend their life here on earth. It is very true that we need patience tolerating their actions. Maybe someday, if God will not come yet, we are the one who will be like them . :) So just enjoy being with them

Yah, for sure. I will have just to accept the fact. Because if God will grant me to reach that age, i would also want my grand children to love and to care for me. And they would respect me.

They have the point and they already experienced things we've never experienced but they we do also experience things that they didn't experience. I guess it's not the only issue in dealing with elders. They are sometimes hard headed and as they getting older it's like raising a new born child, teaching them from scratch. I prefer to take their advice than risking everything. I do respect their opinion. For sure if we get older too we will also do what they did to us, it's a cycle.

Not all are like this, but you have to consider that people at this age do know a lot more than we do. (Like you know a lot ore than an 8 y/o) Also as they grow older, some may feel fear, knowing they don't have much time on earth or even worse, their bodies give out and they can no longer do something simple, they may even need help like a child. That can be very frustrating, I know it would frustrate me as I like strive for independence. So, just try to see life from their point of view, and ask them to tell you some stories. I learned many things and interesting stories from an elderly neighbor before he passed on..

Maybe because they are loosing half insanity. They just do what they want, their undestanding are getting narrow and their memory are getting lost. They also think & act like a child when they reach the latter years.

Old people are cranky because they earned the right to be cranky. After all to live and survive all those 80 tumultuous years is already a feat.
You just have to be patient with them. Don't forget that they have contributed with all they can during their heydays. They reserve the respect they can get from us younger generations.
Besides the boredom of being captured inside a tired bag of bones just makes them want to rebel.
