Looking forward to what promises to be the closest Ashes fight down under for many years. As an Englishman I'm quietly confident that we can win there for the first time since 1986/87. We have prepared well this time, something which couldn't be said four years ago when we were battered 5-0. We however need to sort out our batting. Getting 250-300 like we did against poor teams like Pakistan or Bangledash at home will not do when bowling against the likes of Ponting and Clarke in the sweltering heat. Also, we need Anderson do some serious damage away from swing friendly wickets like Trent Bridge and Old Trafford. I seriously believe that after our last day heroics at Cardiff and destroying the Lord's curse last year. We have the Aussies on the run. Not even McGrath has been making his famous '5-0' predictions. My feeling is that the first test will end in a draw-we need to start solidly. The monsoon in 1998 apart, we have lost every opening test down under since 1990.

Well my dear friend, first test started and England were bundled out for 260. Peter Siddle is a dangerous bowler and he destroyed English batting order but Staurt Board LBW decision was shocker, the umpire gave away out to a ball which pitched outside the leg stump and was not even swinging it was full deliver broad missed out.. Whatever it is history now, Australia started their chase very well but late burst by Anderson and Finn gave some hope for England. Australia have score 220 for 5 in 80 overs are so on 2nd day. Hussey is not out with 81 and Haddin at 20 and trialing only by 40 runs, so it would be herculean effort from England bowlers to take the wickets of remaining bowlers. I hope England pounce back with good bowling performance. ::D:

We're in a bit of a pickle, it's fair to say 200 odd runs behind. Wicket's either gone very flat or we bowled really poorly. Probably the latter. Here's hoping it rains and rains.

197-4 at one stage. Why do we always collapse like that. Same old story though. Batsmen getting good starts then get themselves out. Siddle did bowl well though.
