Realistic ways to make extra money

So I've been doing a lot of research into realistic ways of making extra money and am now earning an extra $100 a week (about £63) just for putting in 4 or 5 hours a day. I avoid scams at all costs and just go for the proven ways of making money, like writing articles, blogging, surveys, affiliate sites, etc.. Have you been caught out by any scams recently? Would you put in full time hours to make double what I do and leave your day job? I'm interested in finding out!

You are doing very well! I don't make nearly that much, and I don't have a day job. I currently live off disability so if I could make the kind of money you make it would help me out a lot in terms of being able to find a place to live. I blog, and I write articles for sites like Triond. I fill out some surveys and I participate in programs that pay you in points that can be cashed out for gift cards. I consider gift cards like cash, even though they don't pay rent they do help with expenses. I like to get gift cards to the local pharmacy so that I can use that to purchase my medicines. I also like to sign up for freebies online because that is a form of earning money when I save money. I also go to review sites to review the products I get freebies of and I earn a little bit of money for that too. But, I'm all for learning about what you do!

Ha, ye Triond does underpay for their work. But, I will say this much that they are willing to publish things that have been published elsewhere first. So Triond is how I get a second use out of all my school reports. Sure they helped me get an A in the class but I deserve to get a little cash out of them too. Lol

I'm hoping that my blog reaches people like you, who actually do want an honest living online, for whatever reason. Be it that they're mums that can't work, or can't work for any other reason. Some survey programmes are good, and it's one of the next things I will be looking at reviewing in my blog. Some are better than others though so we'll see. As for Triond, I'm not a massive fan, as I believe they underpay you, but I do have a website where I write articles which I'm making a fortune on (and probably would more if I put the time in!) I'm also going to be doing a detailed article on how to get work and complete it on Freelancer, as some people look quite scared of it to start but it really is easy when you know how. Keep in touch and let me know how it all works out for you!

That is great! I think you definitely have the right attitude about earning online, and I am sure you will find some more cool earning opportunities by hanging out here. I have personally gotten some great ideas from people here. And you can earn by posting on MyLot too, of course, I highly recommend it! I have been lucky enough not to be scammed, except once when I had a very bad experience with Triond. I think it is because I am rather suspicious so I always do a lot of research before I join anything. I would probably be willing to work more online in order to work full time from home, sure, but at the moment I just do not have enough time to do that...

Why? What happened with triond? What's your experience with it?? Can you share it with us?

Thanks :) I am exactly the same when it comes to earning money online, suspicious! Which is why I've created my blog in a way, just so I can share with the people who are equally suspicious and who don't want to be scammed. I've got a good eye now for what is shady and what is not, but not everyone has and it's great to be able to share the ways that worked for me. As fl0rencia said, what happened with Triond? Might be something I can write about!

What things do you do to make money online? I blog as well, I've written a few articles on Hubpages and Squidoo, do freelance work of Fiverr and Odesk. I also sell items on Ebay and Craigslist every once in a while. I avoid scams as well. I don't feel that anyone's time should be wasted with sites that promise to pay money and then you don't get anything in return.

I use a really good Freelance site you may be interested in which I've just put up on my profile. Great for people that write articles. I've put up my research on my blog which details exactly what I do a day, so you can check that out if you want (seeing as I cannot post links on here!) The majority of my money does come through writing but also letting things work for me, like links and blogs.

It is definitely worth looking at other options Kelly, as there are some truly fantastic ways to make money doing things that you would normally do anyway, and also just for taking out an hour or so a day to write articles on things. Have a look :)

Did you say $100 a week? Wow, I am willing to invest as you say, 4-5 hours a day to achieve this. Is this possible? How?
@MildMix (119)
25 Nov 10
Hi :) Yep, $100 a week, it's pretty cool although it took me about 2 weeks of making about $30-50 a week before I got up to $100. I write articles which is my main money maker, but I also use sites like these and chat rooms, online games which make money and so on. If you want to know all the links, check out the blog on my profile and it's got a step by step guide of all the sites I use, and how much they make me. Hope this helps!

Hello friend, i would leave my job to work online only. I'm saying that, because i work at home from one year now and i'm so pissed off of online working, but can't stop it, because i need the money. As much you have, as much you will spend, believe me. So keep living your real life and if you can do 100$ for a week with extra working, keep the money for something important, because that way you bereave yourself from your free time and the fun you can have with friends. For me, money are not aim. For me the money we could earn, must be happiness. If we can live good, pay our expenses, if we can go out with friends, if we can afford to make nice presents to the people we love, this is the real life, that's how i take it.

I know what you mean Suggar. I do make quite a bit of money from the business I run and the other things I do as well, so for me this is just an extra income which I can use to enjoy my life and spare time! That is why I only put in a few hours a day, and not do it full time. Although if someone really wanted to work hard at the same things I do, I'm sure they could make good money to live on as well :)

I'd love to find another site or two like this one, or perhaps a blogging site where I could earn by blogging, but I'm honestly trying to find something that has a regular potential for at least $100 a month in itself. I'm not looking to do a host of different things, because there's only so many hours in a day. I used a site once that offered $1 for a first review of something, and I think it offered 25 cents for re-reviews of things, but the payout was so high, something like $50 so I never got a payout from the site. I haven't been there in so long I'm not sure I remember my info to log in lol. One thing that earnings sites need to do is make the payout amounts small, or at least achievable. If you are able to make $1 per posting, blog, or review, then perhaps a $10 or $15 minimum is okay, but if you only make 50 cents or less a day, or each posting is only worth 10 cents or 25 cents, I think the minimum should be more like $5 or less. If people don't get paid, they have no motivation to continue being part of the community.

No, that's from a combination of different sites. I listed a step by step way on my blog that tells you which sites I use, how long I spend on them a day, and what I earn from them. Feel free to check it out.

You make quite well online. I would love to earn that much. Even with blogging and articles writing I hardly get anything maybe I'm just not that good. I just do try and error but I didn't invest my money. It's too risky. Yes, I also join some scam site but I didn't lose anything because I didn't invest. If I earn double from what you earn, I still won't quite my job. I just do it part-time.
@MildMix (119)

I don't think it's because you're not very good, the way you write here seems very good and will surely work out for things like articles. Maybe you're not on the right websites? It is worth looking around and making sure you go for the right things. I never invest my money in things online, they all seem a bit shady to me! I only invest in my own blogs and things, because I know where that's going.

Yes! I put in time in readbud, and when I tried to cash out, they just ignored me even though they said they will process it. At least I didn't put in money, just time and effort. If I could make the amount of money you do for 4-5 hours, I still cannot quit because I need the regularity of an income. Online earnings are hard to budget, sometimes you get scammed with money you have already inputted in your budget.

Well earning online is really risky. If you real want to work full time online you need a stable site. But it is hard to find one. If you are to but all your time here in Mylot, you need tons of knowledge at the same time you need to type fast.

I am on quite a few sites and i have just joined some more but until i get to the minimum amount needed i will not know whether they are legitimate or not. I have come across a couple of scam sites and really do get annoyed with these, these sites really should be named and shamed so that people aren't wasting their hard working time. I am willing to do what i can to earn more money, not really into writing stories or things like that, but i don't mind doing surveys or other things like that that are easy enough to do and worth my time. I would not leave my job, it really does not pay well but i am in it for job satisfaction and not the pay, which is why i try to get online to earn that little bit extra. Is there any sites you can let me know of that i could join that are reliable and pay well?
