My sister had to be re-evaluated every year and she had muscular dystrophy! I think it's a crime. Oh, I understand, sort of, how they think at Social Security... you may have been cured or all your health issues just went POOF since your last evaluation. Heaven forbid they keep paying you if you're healthy!
I don't understand how they work at all, enola. I'm on disability myself. I was just approved last year after fighting them for over seven years and I was told I would need to be re-evaluated in about seven years. Yet, there are people like you and my sister who have to come in every year to prove they're still unable to work. It just doesn't make sense.
However, it could possibly be something as simple as the attitude of the person who approved you initially. That, of course, makes absolutely no sense because it would show that Social Security has no set standards but, from what I've seen, it doesn't look like they do.
It could also be the "rating" they gave your disability. They have a specific rating system for each specific disability. I was determined to be 100% disabled. There is a separate rating system for depression but I'm not sure how that works, however, they determined that I have severe depression which may be one reason why I don't have to go for seven years.
The only thing I can suggest is that you try to ask someone there at Social Security why you have to go every year when others don't have to be re-evaluated for years down the road.

Hey, I just thought of this. I wonder if it's because you are on SSI and I am on SSD. Muy sister was also on SSI and she was evaluated every year.
The only difference between the two is that I earned enough money in my lifetime to qualify for SSD. Maybe, because the money I'm getting is actually money I earned and they kept, that's the reason why I don't have to be evaluated every year. Hmmm...
