I am trying to figure it out which was the most memorable game I have seen. And I have to choose between the most negative and the most happiest game I have seen. The negative one was the Champions League final from 1999 Bayern-Manchester. I know I was 9 years young and was the fan of Bayern for a year or so, and this was the most important game they played till that moment from the time I began to support them. I was very happy when Basler has scored in the 5th minute, but the added time from the second half made from a dream a nightmare, which is very alive in me till this moment. Teddy Sheringham and Ole Gunnar Solksjaer made me to fall from heaven to hell. I have to say that this memory still follows me and I think it will till the day I die. And now to the happy moments. The final from 2001 against Valencia. The final started with a scored penalty for Valencia and a missed one for Bayern. Gaizka Mendieta brought Valencia in front in the 2nd minute and Scholl missed a penalty in the 6th minute or so. But Stefan Effenberg brought Bayern back in the business when scoring from the point in the second half. I don't know anymore who have scored and missed in the shootout, because I was very emotional there, all I can remember is Kahn saving the penalty which was shot in his right side. That was the only moment in my life when I cried from happiness. So what is your most memorable game? Please let me know

i watched the first half of the Bayern-United final in 1999 but then i went in to sleep as i was feeling extremely sleepy because it was late at night in our place. i saw the Bayern goal too. it definitely would've been one of the most memorable games that i've seen had i watched it till the end. i was supporting Bayern then but now i'm a United fan so i guess it did justice to me because it was one of United's finest seasons in the club's history as they went on to win the treble - the Premier League, the FA Cup, and the most important of all, the Champions League. another game i cherish was the AC Milan-Liverpool Champions League final in 2005. who would've thought Liverpool would come back to win from 3-0 down at half time? Steven Gerard inspired Liverpool did extremely well to fight back and win it in the Shoot-out. outstanding macth of the most beautiful game on the planet! remember last year's Confederations Cup? USA's performance in the later part of the competition was wonderful. after losing their league openers against Italy and Brazil, the Americans came back strongly to thrash Egypt 3-0 while the Brazilians disposed Italy by the same margin, and USA went through to the semi-final at the expense of the Italians on goal difference. world no.1 and European champions Spain had no answer to the USA's spirited display again in the semi-final, losing 0-2. and of course the final was another masterpiece. Brazil were romping home with a 3-0 lead at half time. the never-say-die Americans did exceptionally well to pull back two and gave the South America giants a run for their money. it was one of the most memorable games i've seen, in fact the whole tournament was memorable with respect to the USA's performance. i support Brazil though.

yeah, there are so many fantastic and memorable games. it's really hard to pick one or few out of those. yeah, a majority of people tend to pick games involving their favorites. but i love football as a whole and i love and support beautiful games. so, it's not necessarily games involving my favorite(s) (even though i'd like to) that i judge memorable games. it's beautiful football being played which i like. sometimes during a match i even tend to support the other team rather than the one i was supporting if they, for example say, start performing some extraordinary stuffs, come back strongly from a seemingly impossible position, put up spirited displays, etc. an example of one such instance was during a Manchester Derby between Man United and Man City at Old Trafford. United were leading 3-1 and the match was i think less than 15 minutes left to play. City's Craig Bellamy came up with a couple of extraordinary efforts and levelled the score 3-3. he scored 2 wonderful solo goals and suddenly i realized that i was supporting City instead of my favorite United! i was hoping to see another City goal to make it one of the most remarkable comebacks to win the game in recent times, or say finish in a draw. but i don't know why the referee allowed 6 minutes of added time to be played, well over the officially added time, during which Michael Owen came in and scored the late winner soon after which the ref blew the whistle. it was very controversial, the winner, and i felt it was injustice to City after putting up such a remarkable effort. such things shouldn't happen. at the end of it all, i love and support beautiful football.

There are so many fantastic games, don't you think? It is very hard to choose one, but the majority of people tend to pick a game in which their favorites are involved.

My most memorable game got to be the title decider between Liverpool and Arsenal in 1989. Michael Thomas scored in the last minute to bring the title to highbury for the first time in 18 years. This was also the game that makes me fall in love with soccer.

When it comes to Champions League, I'm going to go with the classic Miracle of Istanbul, the Liverpool - Milan final from 2005. Not very original, I know, I guess it's the pick for anybody who's not directly involved (meaning, those of us who don't have a home team or an all-time favorite playing in Champions League). But still, considering I wasn't emotionally involved in the game at all, that was... well, emotional. You just got to cheer for the underdog.

the scoreboard in the final Milan-Liverpool 2005 - The incredible score from the Champions League final from 2005
You are right, if we don't have a favorite we tend to cheer for the underdog. And I can understand for you to choose that game, I know that I was very tired during that final and fell asleep a few times, but I saw it next day. I can't remember everything from that game, but it was certainly astonishing for a team that was 3-0 behind at half time in a final to get back and win the game.

Hi my friend ! I think you saw the match between Steaua Bucharest and Dinamo Kiev. I enjoyed the match. I am fan of Steaua and i will be forever. But what happens at Kiev it's the most memorable moments. The score was 4-1 for Steaua and i like when the commenter says "Dica, Dica, dute Dica". But i have another memorable game. This was the worst match what i seen. Middlesbrough - Steaua Bucharest when in the UEFA Semi Finals we lost the second leg. In the first leg Steaua wins with 1-0 and in the second leg Middlesbrough win the match with 4-2. I saw few minutes from that match, but when i saw that we are leading with 2-0 i go to bed and the surprise comes in the next day when i saw that we loosed the opportunity to play the final against Sevilla. Thanks

Yes I have saw these games. I have to say that I am not a Steaua fan at all, I like teams from Transilvania and especially FCM Targu Mures and CFR Cluj. But my favorite team is Bayern Munchen, which I have saw live in Bucharest in 2008 and 2010 in Cluj. Back to these games, I remember them a bit, I was certainly not expecting Steaua winning in Kiev, and especially not by such a difference. As for the game from Middlesbrough I remember how my brother reacted being a Steaua fan. But this is football, and we have to accept such results as well. For me it was a thrilling game, not being a fan of either of the teams.

Hi, The discussion title attracted my attention. I was going to say my favourite game as a child was hide and seek in the dark, we used to call it "Murder in the dark", but I can see I'm a bit off topic. Brought back thought of such a happy time I though I'd post anyway Thanks for the memory

You're welcome. But you're right, when you see only the topic you can think about favorite games you played. But I posted it in soccer category, that is why I haven't mentioned what kind of game was all about. Welcome to myLot and keep up the writing work. It pays off, you know.
