What is the point of living a long life?

What is it? I see many people ask how to live a long life here on mylot. They probably can't find a question to ask or a topic to discuss, or they just want to live a long life. But why do you want a long life?
I answered one of the people asking how to live a long life and I said "Just be boring, life seems longer when you're bored" is that right?
I mean when your having fun or doing something time goes by faster than you think.
So why is there a desire to live a long life?

I never had a desire to live a long life. In fact I thought I would die at age 18. But I didn't, obliviously. What my goal is to do what I want each day so if it is my last , I have no regrets! But this living longer makes no sense to me. Why would I want to live long enough to not be able to do what I want when I want.

I always wish I could live a long life and healthy. I think that people want to die because they're boring or weak. So, If we are optimistic and healthy, we would want to have a long life. Life is beautiful. Why don't we want to live for a long time to enjoy it?

ohh...another discussion led by other discussion.
the primary reason why i wanna have a long life yet healthy is to be able to serve more. i dont know. i may sound crazy and even my professors kinda wondered but it is my passion to help the needies the way i know is right.
i wanna live long and make use of myself, my knowledge, skills, etc to impart anything good and righteous for the rest who needs my help.

Other discussions are part of my life now so I feel I have to discuss them because they make me curious.
Doing good to others feels good, therefore you do good things for others for yourself, right? I just made that up just now. You're just a nice person.

For me, finding a purpose is enough to live the life. After finding that particular purpose, people would like to live longer to experience more things and try to have a sense of continuity through their descendants. I am not particularly found on having a long life because I feel that I will be bored when I reach a particular age or people will deem me useless just becuase I'm older. I certainly hate to be patronize becuase I was in a particular stage of life. People say that a life is a journey of learning, though most people are satisfied on what life already given them. I guess long lives should be selective and only for those who want it.

I see life as entertainment/movie or something like that. Everything can be seen as a genre like comedy, horror, action, drama, etc depending on the mood I'm in or the music that is playing. And with that said, I still can't get the idea of the difference between a short film and a full length movie(dying young and living a long life).

Having a long life or a short one is not the point, its what you put into your time and what you get back from it. Its no good worrying if we will be around for a long time, you have to do what is best for you - Who knows what is around the next corner? For me i want to be around a long time i have so much still to do, so many places still to go but when the time comes at least i will have filled my time here with so many wonderful things and enjoyed every minute of doing so.
