After being laid of for a month after an arm operation my daughter finished her first cake yesterday - and I think it is one of her best yet!
The cake is a Beatles themed cake and is based on the Sergeant Pepper album.
Helen made the figures before her op (and aren't they good you can actually see which one is which - I love Paul's eyes!!)she struggled colouring the fondant and had to have her daughter help her but I think she has done a wonderful job!
If I were choosing a pop group for my cake the Beatles would have been my choice too - how about you?
Who would you have chosen ?

Hi oldchem. How is your daughter now? I see that she is back to business. And where does she get such wonderful ideas? I am wowed by every cake of hers. It is very sad that I would not get to taste them . I do not know much about rock bands, so would not be able to make a suggestion. All I listen to is the local film music. And very little english songs. And that too is limited to Michael Jackson. Sorry that my knowledge of music is nil.

Hi
She's much better but has realised that she is going to have to cut down more on what she makes.
It is the colouring and rolling of the icing that takes it out of her arm.
Helen always had an artistic streak as a kid, guess it's projected itself on to the cake making.

Must be hard not being able to do something which she loves. I guess it will take some time to heal. I used to do a lot of craft work, stiching etc when I was small. But now since I have back pain, tmj and all sorts of muscle pain, I am not able to do any of that for even a short time. Even spending time on the net is limited to ten minutes and then a small break and then back to surfing or spending time on mylot etc for another ten to fifteen min. The cycle continues. Cannot sit and type for a long time.

Another great cake by Helen!!! I just love her attention to details on the cake...amazing! I don't know what group I would pick as my favorite for a cake. I guess I would have to have a bunch of bands on my cake as I really couldn't pick a favorite. I guess I love classic rock..like Boston, Queen, 38 Special...hummm, I could on and on.

I don't really know if I would have chosen a musical group. To me, something pink and burgundy....with flowers, frills and lace. Something very feminine would do it for me.
Glad to hear you daughter's on the mend and feeling great.

Hiya chem,
Can I be different and ask for the Group "Slade" to be put on the Cake instead? Yes I love the Beatles still but there are other favourite Groups for me and Singers too. Do the Singers on their own count or is that a no no.
Smashing Cake that one too good to eat again that´s not fair boo hoo. I would feel like I am destroying a work of Art.
Right so which Singers can I have on the next Cake then?
