Hi, fellow mylotters!
It's about a month 'till Christmas now. I don't think I'm getting a good mood because of that. But what about you? Do you think we'll have a better Christmas this year or not?
The other thing I want to discuss with you is our weight :) You know, people use to drink and eat more during the Christmas holidays. Are you gonna think about your wight this year? What suggestions you have?
Last year I got about 6-7 kilos on my weight during the holidays. I used to drop it in about 2 weeks then :) I think that this year I'll think again before eating. Maybe I'll remain with the thinking :D But anyway, what's your comment?

hi stand hard to get into Christmas mood when you are stuck in a tiresome retirement center. My sense of humor drops rapidly as the holiday approaches. two years ago my life was g reat as I was in our apartment with my adult son but the bottom os the economy fell out just as my son lost his job and now is still ou t of work. oh for about two months he had a part time job then the employer cut him back to one day a week.so to all extents and purposes,he is back to job hunting again. I feel sort of desperate as I was only here as we were made homeless by eviction and going broke. now I am not here free in case any myloltter wants to snipe at me for taking taxpayers money, I give my social security and ssi checks to the management here and pay for monthly room and board and get back the princely sum of one hundred twenty five dollars, whoopee, for my personal needs.and no my internet is not free either as one mylot nastily sniped at me, it costs me 39 dollars a month so that is not free. that is where mylot earnings come in.

Hatley, how mean of someone to say such things!! I wish I lived close to you, I would come and cheer you up!
Have a birthday party for Jesus on Christmas, that will cheer everyone and make them feel good. You are loved and admired by many people and you should not give that one person the power to make you miserable.

I hope you won't like the food to much at christmas holiday because it is easier to get 6 kilo extra than reduce them!

A couple of years ago I found that I can enjoy all the stuff I like at the holidays if I just don't make a pig of myself. Yesterday was Thanksgiving here, traditionally a big dinner with turkey, stuffing, casseroles, pies and lots of other stuff. I enjoyed it all! I just took small portions of everything I liked and ate it slowly in small bites. Everyone else piled their plates high and went back for seconds before I'd finished mine and I was the only one who was comfortably full instead of stuffed and groaning.
That's how I handle the holiday eating. I enjoy it more than I ever did and I don't gain weight!

Actually, my weight has always been a huge issue in my life, but it isn't something that I let bother myself during the holiday season. You see, over the course of time, I've been able to learn that I am able to maintain and even sometimes lose weight by controlling my intake. Though there are times that it is difficult to be able to do this during the Christmas season, it is something that I am able to do for the most part.

I'm 64kg now I'd like to get down to 60 by xmastime, but unfortuntately I don't know what else to say other than eat lots of fruits/veggies, maybe do some light weight lifting just enough to tone your muscles, that'll help burn fat faster, and a new thing I ttied was about 1/3 cup of pure lemon juice, 1/3 cup of water, and a heaping teaspoon of splenda, gulp it down fast, it's supposed to help with weight loss as well, I just started almost a week ago.
Good luck!!! :-)

CHRISTmas is a very special occassion because it's the birthday of JESUS. I don't want my mood to be affected by the situation that surrounds me. But we can't keep CHRISTmas from coming and it's really getting near. I'm also thinking about my weight since I'm also into that goal of shedding some pounds. I'm having a hard time to maintain my ideal weight since I'm already in my 40's. Well, I still want to keep with my goal...I'll keep trying.

I don't know why people get fat over christmas. Well I do- they eat too much but it's never been a problem for me.
For a start I follow a vegan diet so I don't eat any fattening cr@p, secondly I don't celebrate christmas so I avoid gatherings and christmas lunches like the plague.
Also, my work is extremely busy over the holiday season so I work heaps, go home, eat my normal healthy, non fattening food, go to bed and wake up and do it again.
So if you don't weant to put on weight, just be conscious of what you shovel into your mouth- simple. And go for a jog every day or two.

It is a good idea to think before eating alot of food. I have given up on that. I want to enjoy my food intake and shall for a while. It is a health question and I would advise people to think about that. Enjoy it for what it is. Turkey itself is not that caloric but the rest of it is. The stuffing and cream mashed potatoes, the desserts, etc. So be careful.

I'm bit skeptical about Christmas this year but of course, I still feel that air of happiness out there. It is contagious I think.:)
What about my weight? I have to gain weight rather than lose. If this holiday season can bring me what I need then I'd b e more than happy. HOw I wish I can gain weight, indeed!;)

I would say the one (main) indulgence for me over Christmas is chocolates. Mum has got into the M&S ones so no doubt she will dig them out over the holidays when I stay with her and my Dad.
To be honest, I'm overweight anyway so a few munchies here and there ain't gonna make much difference to how I look. I don't even go overboard with booze anymore.
However, I AM looking forward to visiting a Greek Restaurant near to where my parents live. As it's my nephew's 21st birthday on Christmas Eve my Mum will try to book us in as near to that date as possible because, no doubt, he will have other plans on the "Big Day" lol.
Aah, what I'd do to be that age again. It was such fun!
Whether you put weight on or not my friend please, PLEASE have a good time.
OK?
Good!
