There was a fire at my children's school today.

We were just about to drive up the school drive into the car park to take my son to nursery, when one of the school staff started waving her arms and asking us to reverse back onto the road.
She walked down to the car and explained that there was a small fire in the school and they were not letting anyone in.
My first thought was of my 9 year old son who was in school so I asked her if all the children were okay and did they get them out safely and she reassured me that they were.
We were told to wait to see what was happening the fire engines, police and ambulances had turned up by this time.
Then we were advised to go home as she thought afternoon nursery would not be on. She also said we had to wait on a text to see if the other children were going to be sent home.
They did end up sending all the children home on the advice of the fireman in the end.
The school is now also going to be closed tomorrow due to repairs being done.
It turned out that workman were working up on the roof repairing a leak and had caught the water tower alight. That was the reason the school is closed tomorrow as they have no water.
My son was telling me that about a third of the children in the school were crying and he said he felt a bit shook up himself but thankfully no one was hurt.

I am glad that no one was hurt! I bet you were still worried and relieved when you got that text message. Glad it wasn't that big of a thing and the children get a day off!

I was very relieved and my 9 year old was happy to get the day off but my 4 year old was not as he loves nursery he even wants to go in when he is ill.
