What was the worst tasting food served at your thanksgiving dinner?

I went to my mothers house for thanksgiving yesterday. I really didnt enjoy any of the food to be compeletely honest. Even what I made a swiss vegetable casserole I didnt find all that appealing. They liked it but I dont think I will waste time making that ever again so I threw the recipe out. My sister bought canned pumpkin at Wegmans and my mother told her that she made that kind of pie using the recipe on the back and it turned out terrible. I guess she didnt know any other recipes or just figured since my mom doesnt follow directions thats why it turned out bad. I guess the recipe made 2 pies and called 4 6 eggs. My dad had the first piece and said it was terrible. Then we were joking around at how rude he was and my mom said she would try some. My sister brought me a small forkfull to try and my mom happened to bit into hers first and said Shannon dont eat that. I guess it really was as bad as my dad thought lol. She said that it had no flavor all it tasted like was cold eggs. I am so glad I was not the first one to bite into that pumpkin pie. Did you eat someone at a thanksgiving dinner that tasted terrible? Did you say anything about it or did you use your best manners and try to eat it and not gag? Thats the worst because you dont want to take a bite of a pie and throw it in the garbage and have them know you dont like it. So I try to just gag it down lol.

There was some kind of dish that I'm not even sure what it was. It was a bit sour tasting. I took a couple of polite bites, while looking for a way to discretely "accidentally" drop my portion on the floor. So it was not good tasting to say the very least.

LOL well if you accidentally dropped it on the floor then they might say oh poor you let me get you another plate full of that. Then you also might be stuck cleaning the mess off the floor. I hate putting something on my plate that tastes terrible. Then your obligated to eat it so they wont see you throwing the whole amount of it away. Then they would know that you didnt like it.

I went to my mother's side of the family for Thanksgiving, each family brought a meal and the only meal I ate was from the one my parents made and another meal that was store bought. The rest, I don't know but it tasted disgusting, like no one put in the energy to prepare the meals because it tasted disgusting! -__-

How do you know if the others tasted disgusting if you didnt try them. Do you mean that they looked disgusting? Sometimes things looks gross but taste good. I hate going to dinners where the food is gross so I can understand how you felt. I'm glad that you were able to find some food that was good at least.

LOL LOL, Well I cooked almost everything at the Thanksgiving Dinner that I hosted. I made the stuffing like I alway do but the package cubes that really were more like crumbs was all that I could find at the store. So it tasted good but I didn't like the texture of the stuffing. My niece said she didn't like it first and I said have you ever had it before and she said no. So when I tasted it I said yes I'm not crazy about it either. Otherwise everything else was great tasting and everyone seemed quite contented with the meal and dessert.

I hate when the stores are out of things and you have to customize the food you want to make. It never seems to turn out how we want it to. Others will usually like it but then its like well no if you had it the way I normally make it you'd see how much better it is. I like stuffing. My mom just made out of the box stuffing where you add like butter and water and cook it in the microwave and fluffy it with a fork. I like to make that but I have a recipe where you add salad dressing and cheese and broccoli. Its really good.

Hi shaggin... I seldom visit my relatives home because i have a busy schedule even on Sunday or holiday too. So i can't remember when i took a thanksgiving dinner for the last time. But once i visited a poor family who prepared mutton specially for me but bad luckily they forget to add salt there. Have a nice day.

Aww thats sad that you dont have time to really celebrate Thanksgiving with your family. When I used to work at a hospital I practically had to work every holiday it sucked. If I had had kids at the time it would have been more unsetting but then I was young so it wasent as bad plus I got paid my regular pay and then a half so since I usually made $7 an hour if I worked on holidays I made $10.50 an hour.

my family are all good cooks, but there is always every year that one dish, and it's not the same dish, or the same cook. One year it was the bananna pudding my sister brought, her husband made it and didn't actually cook the pudding like you were supposed to, he thought it was instant. Horrible. This year it was the stuffing. I don't know what they did to it, but it was mushy and salty and not at all good. It kind of puts you off having stuffing again for a long time. We all knew it was going to be bad just by looking at it, my parents included (they cooked the bird and stuffing) but we all did our duty and got a little scoop, needless to say there was a lot of stuffing left over.

Aww lol. Its embarrassing being the one who cooks the food that turns out bad. At least it wasent you or me this year :) I felt bad for my sister putting all that work into those pies and having them turn out terrible because whoever decided to put that recipe on the side of the can of wegmans pumpkin was crazy lol. I am just so glad that I didnt take a bite of it because pumpkin pie is my favorite and I've been making a lot of different kinds lately. I wouldnt want to have it ruin my appetite for my favorite pie from now on.

Since my boyfriend and I are out of town we went to a really nice and fancy restaurant. The menu prior to our arriving sounded superb. So I was so looking forward to the candied yams, as I bit down into my giant plate I felt like I was chewing a pound of pure sugar. They way over did it. I am glad that we had our homemade Thanksgiving a week ago before I left as all my dishes were fabulous. LOL

I have made candied yams for Thanksgiving dinner either last year or the year before that I cant remember. They turned out beautifully and a few of the other people at the dinner loved them but me I just dont like sweet potatoes so I did not enjoy eating that dish I made. Unless someone requested I made it I would never make candied sweet potatoes again lol. Thats awful that the resturants food sucked thats dissapointing.

Everything at my grandmothers house this year was wonderful; except a store bought pumpkin pie my sister brought over. I don't know what the store did but it was overly spiced with something and it was hot! Awful Awful Awful!!!!

Most grandmas make the best food :) My mother is a grandmother and she is NOT the best cook lol. They made canned peas and canned corn but it was very salty. The sodium in the canned peas and corn make them slightly salt to begin with so if you add much salt they get really salty tasting. The food was good but some wound up being very salty and I was like starting to feel sick from having so much salt intake.

certainly not going to do something like that because if such they will assume that the food was not good to eat
