Does anyone know of a good and affordable e-book reader that reads everything?

Okay, so I have been thinking about getting a Kindle for a while now, but I recently checked the prices of the e-books you can get for the Kindle (on Amazon) and they are really quite high. Since I know of a lot of sources where I can get e-books for free, and I also have some already (in PDF format), I decided not to get the Kindle after all, so now I am looking for an e-book reader that can read basically anything. Does anyone have any suggestions? I heard Bebook is pretty good, has anyone tried them?

Borders and Barnes and Noble have e-book readers that are on sale this weekend. I have a kindle and yes its costly; however, I have had mine over a year. My suggestion is to visit one or both stores and see what you think of them. I have only tried the Borders one and it does work well. Its called the Kobo and its $99.99 here. Keep in mind I'm in Southern California and its costly to shop anywhere here.
