My father named all of us brothers and sisters in the family. He really had this unique way of naming each one. It depended on the situation when a particular child was being conceived. I got my name from an action star. My mom was watching most of his films while she was having me so, they decided to give me the name of that celebrity. For the nick name, they would often call me by that actor's screen name (^_^")

That's a bit risky for the kid who is helpless to argue with what kind of name he or she would get on whatever that father might see. What if, the very moment the father went out, he stepped on something bad and smelly? Also, upon christening, the priest would even insist on adding a Christian name on the child which the eldest in the family experienced. We don't even get to mention his Christian name anyway. Next was my eldest sister. She got her name from a lead character in a novel that my father was reading when my mom was having her. I guess the characteristics of the heroine was what my father wanted my eldest sister to have. My second brother that followed her took the name of my father so, we all call him Jr for being the junior. Oddly, we would often hear junior for the last kid but, that didn't end there. Second sister's name got her's by arranging the name of my mom backwards so, she's one of those few people who might only have the name that she has now. Third brother's name was taken from Pope John Paul II but, of course when he was not yet the Pope. His name would be mistaken for a girl's name.

I know, right? I don't know if they still do it like all the time, or if it's even true. It might be some story that was concocted by the DJ. So, your third brother's name is Karol? You guys have such cool name origins. You could go on and on about how you and your siblings got your names. :)

that's interesting. i wonder who that celebrity is. :) your father's way reminded me of how native americans name their children. at least from what i heard in the radio. they say that right after the child's birth, the father goes out of the house (or the hospital, i guess) and then the first thing he sees, that's what he name the child after. like the musician, eagle eye cherry. i don't know if that's true though. i haven't checked yet. :)

My name is Phong. In English it's mean "wind". My name is mine, it's not after any name from my family. I love my name the best.

Actually the cult leader named me Pauline Juliet. My first name means small, which I was at only about 5 pounds at birth. I don't really like that name very much or the man who gave me the name so I go by Po to close friends and family. I went by my real name in high school, but when I went to college I introduced myself as Po to everyone and like it a lot better. It's more feminine in my opinion and also sounds more Asian. Po is a shortening of Poline which is how my parents pronounce Pauline (they are Korean).

My name was made by my parents. Sounds like a little bit unique but i see and heard a lot of names similar and really sound like. Not really happy and sad because its reality that people had the same thinking and idea in making names. There's a lot of people who has a very unique names and it is good. Good day!

I have a very unique name. At least my full name, that is. Even my first name used to be unique. I would often be mistaken for a boy when I only use that name. These days though, a lot of girls has that name, some even has the same spelling as mine.

My first name is not choosen for any special reason. My middle name is after my mother. I was the fifth girl, but not one of them was a namesake to my mother, so I got that honour!
