Why one has to age and suffer from various health problems ?
This question just popped out of my mind when i have gone through one such circumstance yesterday which freaked me out for few hours...i was really scared
I do not wish to get into details of it coz it was one of its kind for me and I DO NOT EVER WISH TO GO THROUGH IT AGAIN
There are some questions which seem to be simple yet difficult to answer very much like the one i have posed!

but thats supposing we all have to be ill which is not true at all. if we stayed healthy through all the decades we would be healthy at seventy or eighty too.

Hello sunny,
I have stopped worrying about aging and health problems lately, when i was down with sickness for the past couple of weeks. We are eventually going to die, so we should as well start think to live the healthiest life possible. Although it's quite saddening when someone else suffers.

sunny you and my son deserve some applause as you really care and are concerned about us aged parents as a lot of the younger generation
lose all respect for their elders, specially if they have health
problems. That's why there are a lot of elderly people here as their sons and daughters did not want old people living with them even if they are their parents. I am here solely because we were made homeless. My son nags at me to take care of myself but he does it with love as he knows I sometimes will let my health go. I just have a thing about going to he doctor.

I admire your son Hatley. You don't get such nice people around much these days. Seeing the homeless elders together makes me think how do their own children leave them, and refuse to let them stay at their home. Hatley, your son ought to nag you for visiting the doctor too. Take care!

Although we seem to be in the minority, there are some of us who do not feel that one has to suffer health problems. A few of us think it is a choice that people make. Maybe when I am 90 I will think differently, but I am willing to take a chance. I think that good health is the natural state of human beings at any age. But then I eat differently from most people and "move" muscles (not necessarily exercise but I am no couch potato)
Do not be scared! You are invincible.

Folks stay away from exercising when they're in good health ... and doctors do not recommend it after certain age!
This phrase seems damn apt --- "People loose their good health to make money in their mid's and the same folks spend the same money to BUY their health back in later stages of their lives"
And probably my dad has to buy his health back now!

Hiya sunny,
Is this to do with something some other Person is going through or gone through and you are afraid of getting into that kind of condition?
If it is. I don´t know what the condition could be but enough to upset you for the Day by the look of it.
We all get to worry about things that other People have or go through and we think that we might end up the same.
As I am reading here you are fit and keep fit why worry so much. Is it someone in your Family I hope not not even Friends well not even anyone actually.
Don´t fret so and it will pass.
I had a Book that listed Ailments in the House and I had to throw it out as my Kids were driving me round the bend with things that they thought they might have. They all have a "Phase" of that.
My youngest has just lost one of his best friends to an illness and he thinks that he has everything that is going around too. But it will pass.

Hiya sunny,
Really am sorry to hear that. I hope it´s not anything more than the flu something like that.
It is hard to accept things that cannot be controlled by us altogether that is very true.
Yes my Son the youngest one has found this a blow that´s hard to deal with. The other two Friends got killed in Car accidents both very young too. But he was much younger and did not seem to hit him too hard. Perhaps now he is realizing that as well I suppose. I tell him that it takes a long time to heal completely and even then you still feel the odd twinge of that feeling. Seems to have calmed down a little.
Hope your Dad is much better now.

Life is a journey. I am a very active person with an active husband. Even then I suffered two strokes. Do to family history I inherited high blood pressure and high cholesterol. The physical affects of stroke is hard enough, but people and doctors tell me it was my fault! Then the tests came through telling them it was not. That's the toughest part for me. People can be so cruel, even when you're ill. Just know that you are not alone!

hi there Sunnycool,
Sorry you went through such a traumatic time. When I was younger,I had a couple of scary incidents that left me bedridden for lengthy times. It was enough to scare me...I never ever want to be in that spot again. I've been very lucky to have had good health and have not been sick in years and years. I hope you are all recovered now. You have a long way to go before you are old. Take care of yourself.

We learn more and more about how to have and keep healthy bodies and minds throughout our lives. However for many of us we are in recovery for various sins
against our health in our past. Yoga is great for regaining some health, a healthy diet and cutting off bad habits also helps. Exercise is very important and brain games like crosswords help our minds stay flexable. Blessings

Yes, as we grow old, we become weak. That is when most parts of our body are no longer fractionating optimally. When major illness occur, we can be attacked by secondary diseases as well-those spread by bacteria. So it is important that we keep our mind and body healthy as we grow older in years.

Hi sunny why we are born, why we age and suffer and why we die are philosophical questions and there maybe many philosophical answers to it, but why we suffer from various health problem is a practical question and there is an answer to it. Our health suffer if we do not take care enough care, we do not exercise and we eat what we must not eat.

It is so sad and unfortunate when some one near and dear ails my friend. However it is part of life. The body sort goes through the same stages as flowers where as we nurture it and eventually it wilts.

It's all part of nature. We have to age and die, but need not have to go through any health problems. Health problems in our old age actually starts from our younger days, of eating all the rubbish snacks, smoking, drinking or whatever. Though those effects are not seen in our younger days, but they are already building up inside of us and that's when it shows up in our aging years. So if u want a healthy life at a old age, be prepared to suffer during your younger days now.

I also hate it because right now I am feeling a lot of aches and pains in my body that I can associate with my age. I am in my late thirties but I am fortunate enough that I don't have the diseases that run in my family (diabetes, hypertension). I may not look my age, but during these times my body gives way to my true age.

As a Zen practitioner, I would say that we go through various health (and other) problems in life to learn how to deal with that particular situation. It gives us understanding about such suffering so that we can be more compassionate to others who go through the same thing.
I have had some pretty unpleasant experiences, the last of which was a heart attack about 4 years ago. I didn't feel angry or saddened by the experience because I just focused my mind on what I was going through. The heart doctors told me that by doing that I probably had helped save my own life. I didn't know it was a heart attack, so I went through the pain for around 6 hours before my wife called an ambulance. I thought it was indigestion and told her not to call an ambulance because it was nothing more than a painful experience of indigestion.
I have now improved my diet and lifestyle and am fully recovered apart from the occasional breathlessness, but I have learned quite a lot about what it is like to have a heart attck. I believe therefore, that there is always something for me to learn about pain, and I've got to face it, that as I grow older, there will be pain for me to experience. It's just part of life that I won't fight if I can help it. _Derek

hi sunnycool hatley here and yes tonight with my damnable stupid rash on my leg that itches and will not go away I am also thinking "damn to this age and health myself. That is the question a lot of us senior citizens ask each other and no I will not call myself old just a senior.,But again why cannot we age and not have problems? Yes those are the questions people of all ages ask but sunny what is the answer? I am sorry something with someone you care about scared you silly for awhile, but look do not' pick it over and over in your mind as that will just drive you bonkers. We all age but some do it a lot better than others,Sunny just think about you for awhile keep trim and do not get fat, I am not joking, most type two diabetes let themselves gain weightin their thirties and forties but keep it down a bit then erred byforgetting to slim down in their fifties and boom. they become
diabetics.so watch your figure now while young and just make it a
habit and when you are 84 like me you will not have diabetes like I do as you took care of yourself when young and kept it up.

Yeah, health is wealth. We would do anything just to stay healthy---exercise, eat healthy food, not smoke, etc. Oftentimes we realize this too late and we're faced with health problems we're not ready to handle. That's scary. Good luck and stay healthy!
