Hello friends, Lately i cook only cheap dishes. I feel like i can write a book about that And it will be called something like "Tasty dishes for 5$". I just can't afford to buy more food, but until it's delicious, it's o.k. Today i just finished cooking and you can see our diner on the picture down the post. It's potatoes with melted cheese. Today i had to buy only the melted cheese, which was less than 2$, but if i had to buy 2 kilograms of potatoes it would exactly 5$. Usually i cook white beans, potatoes with green beans, stew of meatballs with rice, meatballs soup, potatoes soup and lot others which costs only 5$ I would be really thankful if you share what can you cook for 5$. I don't want recipes, because i know that recipes here are forbidden, but just if you give me the products, without exactly how much you put in the dish, i'll find the recipe in internet and will use it for future. It's nearly diner time here and we have a guest, so i have to serve. Potatoes with that cheese are really delicious with pickle. Have a nice diner friends

I always find cooking as challenging. Cheap dishes doesn't mean it lacks quality and nutrients. I always try to get fresh local veggies to cook and add bits and pieces of meat or chicken served with rice. Sometimes I cook rice with beef and vegetables together for our dinner or lunch. It is a simple one meal dish which is not only nutritious but very filling. The cheapest I've cooked is rice broth eaten with salted eggs. It cost less then a 1$ per bowl.

Hello friend, here we got chinese restaurants where they serve rice or rice spaghetti with eggs and little vegetables - it has amazing taste. Yes, if you use cheap products, it doesn't mean that the dish is made by products with bad quality. I just like to cook simple things, that's how we have food for longer time, i can mix nearly everything at one dish, it will be tasty for sure and will be delicious, but next day we may stay hungry. So different and simple dishes in different days - that's good strategy for me.

That's so nice. It's nice that you could have tasty food in an expensive ways. That's being creative. I hope I could do what you do. But I'm sorry I can't give you any ideas regarding that because I don't cook myself. Hehehe.. I hope I could learn cooking soon. I always wanted to cook. I've been even watching cooking and baking shows even if I don't do it myself. Haha

I think I too am an expert at frugal cooking. I´m quite regularly cooking for 20 or so people (we run a farm and accept volunteer guests to help out) so keeping meals cheap is priority. My best advice is to produce as much of your food yourself as you can! We grow almost all of our vegetables and some of our meat ourselves, and of course that allows me to cut my expenditure dramatically. Soups are a good filler, and I adore using pumpkins and squashes in them. I use a base of rice, bread, potato, beans or pasta then add whatever veggies we have in season. Curries, chillies, stews .... the varieties of using the same ingredients are endless. My favourite though is making some spaghetti pasta and mixing it with some stir fried veggies, a little chilli and ginger and a sweet sauce (I make my own, but you couldmix a spoonful of jam with some vinegar and perhaps soy sauce).

Hello . I just want to point out that the procuts costs different in different countries ;) So if there is something that here cost 5$ it might be 15$ in other country , depends on the country ofcourse :) But well if only going to be for our country then there is no problem .

It's that way, yes. In the past i made discussion about how long time people can eat for 50$, so i had around 30 or more responses which showed me that for 50$ people can buy different stuff and eat around a week, somewhere in the world, they eat for 2 weeks with 50$. So i had some idea what are the prices here and out there and i can make little difference
