My home is double floored and very few close people come upstairs (where i spend most of my time) who are very close...so i don't have fear of money stolen by anyone coming inside the house... i have this bad habit of keeping money handy, somewhere in the open cupboard above my TV etc... (not a big amount but only the change, which i have got from some small purchases) i am bit lazy to open the lock of my cupboard all the time and then take out money for small needs like vegetable from hawker, or my children need toffees or a ball etc...all the things i get very easily near my house so i don't store them...but i have felt this recently that i spend too much money by keeping money like this...do u think that money should be kept somewhere secretly so as to save some of it?...but thinking other way...i feel that if u place it that way...still i won't be able to say no to kids if they ask for something....your views please...do u too keep money handy or you put it too safely?

Hi eshaan, Money at Handy Place that would make my day but... Ever since I have married, my wife doesnt allow me to do that because she knows that it would all get spend on many useless things ( which in my inner hearts I agree ). When I was at college and not at the hostel, I would keep my money anywhere I felt comfortable as there was no outsider to enter my room - I had more of a private hall for my living. The money would be on the bed, under the pillows, on the TV set or even in my socks (just in case of emergency)... Gosh I was so very disorganized (and even am today). Handling money doesnt come easily to me even at 36 Cheers, theSids.

..most women are like that...but don't know why i am not like that in case of money...i have experienced that if i dont keep it out and if my hubby needs money for something he would check his pants pockets...but as i always keep it out...my money gets lost easily i am 5 years senior to u...so no surprise you are not well organised at 36

And I thought you were just out of college. Yes, seriously speaking I was having this opinion about you... Now that I know that I was wrong I thought I should tell you this. I wished my wife wore pants or the kurtas that had pockets... I could have tried getting some money out from there... I dont think I would ever look into her purse for the money... They say it is bad manners to peep inside others' wallets or purses.

Hi eshaan.. I too keep some money on TV stand like you so that I can get it easily when I go for buying vegetables or milk..but I have kept a small box where I put all the change.. and no one takes it anyway because its all coins I keep there.. and all notes I keep in my purse.. no dear keeping in secret place cant help it to save because we will be knowing that we have money to spend so I feel its better to be in bank account and to take little money in wallet so when ever we want we can draw money so it reduces the spending cause we might feel lazy to go ATM always lol..

I don't have kids and so I don't have much chance of needing money as often as you. I keep a small amount of cash as well as all my cards etc in my wallet which is stored safely out of sight. . I try not to spend the cash frivolously but I do buy myself a small treat occasionally. Money is scarce for me these days so I try and save it and then put it to good use as often as possible.

Hi eshaan, I am keeping the money in my bag (using for going work) and small amounts are kept in the outside zipper so that I can take it easily. But my bad habit is I am keeping my bag on table tv stand, study table, dressing table etc. I never keep the same in almirah and getting scolds from my hubby. The reason may be like yours, if I want money I can take quickly the bag is kept as handy. I don’t have any particular cash box at home, since nobody at home in day time it won’t be safe too. I don’t think saving money related with the way of keeping. If we want to spend it then we should do it irrespective of the place we kept it. We have to adopt some other methods to cut short expenses.

If you would have asked this same question just a month ago, I would have said that I always keep my money in a handy place. However, because of the fact that I was deceived by a supposed friend of mine, everything that I have is squirreled away now. I keep my purse locked up in the bedroom, my change jar is in my bedside table and our checkbook is hidden in the drop ceiling in the bedroom. I used to be a trusting person, but that part of me is gone now, unfortunately.

I don't usually have cash on me all the time. I just use a debit card to make purchases. This make me spend only the exact amount all the time, and need not keep money lying around in the house. It is a matter of habit. While, it is nice to have money handy, I feel that it is not very helpful in trying to save it.

I am too lazy to keep the money in a safe place. Only once in a week, I keep the money in one of the safest place or it is lying here and there. I am very disorganized when it comes to money. I try to keep in safe place but due to work pressure and other things I dont. For such I keep loosing money. I dont even recollect where I would have kept the money so many times.

many misunderstandings happen due to forgetfulness...many a times i suspect that someone who came to my house..took my money...but later i remember that i spent it for so and so reason...and then i feel guilty for suspecting the person...

I have small change around the house for my daughter’s school lunches, buying the paper etc. but for bigger amounts I keep the money in a tin along with a notebook where I list all the different thing the cash is for, for example pets, clothes, medication, entertainment etc. and every time we take money out of the tin we have to account for it in the notebook. It helps us not to over spend because we know if we take too much we have to somehow replace it or the book won’t balance!

Well, I live by myself, so I don't really have to care about another person taking my money. When people come to my apartment, as it's a very small one it's difficult that they can do anything without me seeing it, so I don't have to worry at all anyway. I keep some money with me for my everyday expenses, but I put the rest in the bank, so it can't be accessed physically that easily.

Well, I only keep a limited amount of cash in my wallet, and I have a few bucks in my wallet in case of change, or small purchase from gas station that is all. I have the debit card and credit card handy that is all.

My small bills are scattered everywhere. I don't really mind since my house is safe. Still, It depends on the amount of money. I keep a few change handy all time. I also put it in a place where i can easily reach and see it because I can be forgetful at times. Large amounts goes directly to my atm. Even mony volts are not safe nowadays. Bank is your bestfriend. Keep this as a habit but of course still make sure that you don't loose your plastic. Good day!

I keep in handy only small sums of money . All my saving are well- hidden in a box. But it's very usual for me to leave 20-50$ on the TV or elsewhere in the open. I rarely have not close friends at home , that is why I don't really fear that someone will steal from me.

We have emergency cash that we keep in the house but for everyday spending we use the bank debit cards or the credit cards. I don't like to carry cash because I tend to spend more that way and it's harder to keep track of where my money goes. If I use the cards I have a record of what was spent, when and where it was spent.

well, thats depends... on whos arround/near me. if i can trust them, and make sure everything is ok then its ok. but if i am not sure with the safety i will be more care full, but i will still try to limiting/prevent all that can make the bad things happens and make our selves regret later. so, in this case i will keep it handy but safely and under control. stay safe!

Actually money is the most precious thing to be preserved. I think I am a bit conservative when coming to money. May be that could be one of the reason for me I don't keep money openly on desks, tables and tv stand etc. I respect money (that doesn't mean, those who keep it outside handy do no respect it). So I keep money either in cupboard or I keep in safe locker at home or in my purse. Some how I am used to in that way, may be looking at my mother from childhood I became so. Where ever you keep it if you are choosy while spending that should not be a problem. Happy Living Calpro

yes...u r right...the way you spend it is important...but the problem with me is that...if the kids see money lying out..they remember all the snacks and toffees in the neighbouring shop...and though i may shout a bit...but i find it hard to say no to them if i have money...
