How can I learn computer animation?

I have been using mspaint and movie maker, and kdenlive and kolourpaint for a few months now, but I picked up this thing called anima8or and creatoon and it's a little harder with these tools, there's also something called "synfig" that I want to learn too but it's all really difficult, i have been doing animation with garden gnomes and jpegs for awhile it's on morphoidbunnyandfriends at blogspot dot com if anyone is interested in it.
