Mosquitoes? They are the tiny things which cause a lots of problems like diseases like malaria, dengue, etc and not only this they are irritating and disturbing by biting a lot while you sleep at night causing to disturb you from sleep..
For this, now a days many Mosquito Repellent Mats have been introduced into markets to put up at your homes to sleep free from these insane inspects.
But Study/research say that Extensive usage or inhaling of Mosquito Repellent chemicals are very harmful to human and can lead to cancer..
Besides this, how many of you use these Mosquito Repellent Mats or liquids at your homes/bed rooms? Like cigarette, knowing besides its harmful to health using it, to get from these Mosquitoes, How many for you use these Repellent chemicals?
I too have heard and seen people using Mosquito nets installed at windows and doors, So as to prevent entering of these flies/insects into your house. Other than these are there anything else you use?
Any other ideas. LOL..

We do use mosquito mats at our home. This is because we are unfortunate to live in a tropical region and it has got swarms of mosquitoes. As a child I remember my mother using this mosquito repellent cream and applying it all over my body to protect me from mosquitoes. Then later we used to use mats which were a better option. We never used those coils as they gave out smoke which is more problematic especially to those with allergies.Nowadays there are liquid repellents available. But we have not yet used any of these.I think we can try out and see the effectiveness of these liquid repellents too because I feel they are the best option.

We use mosquito repellents at home. Thanks for informing it leads to cancer. Camphor is a very good source to keep the insects out of reach. Camphor if being used on a day to day basis in water can keep mosquitos away. So please use camphor in place of repellents which is more safer.

Lolz!! I used Mosquito repellent mats in the late 1990's and its of no effect, but, if you burn the mosquito mat or use mosquito coils its very harmful to us as well as the mosquitoes. However, use of liquidators and creams/sprays have become very trendy these days and its more effective :) I m using this ODOMOS mosquito repellent spray these days :D

We use scent based repellent called Katol here in the Philippines. It's as effective as the modern plug-ins that have been coming out today. The only disadvantage is the smell. It can heavily damage your brain if you smell a large amount of it.

Personally I don't like to use mosquito repellant or mosquito mat because I can't stand the smell. I prefer installing mosquito net on windows and doors but they can be a bit pricey. I heard that those who love natural repellant, they can plant citronella or catnip in the house to drive away mosquitoes.:)

Fortunatly we have a dry climate so we don´t have mosquitos where I live. We get some bugs in summer but they are easier to keep in their place. I see a cockroach once in a while (loathe them) and in summer we have flies and some moths.
But I was just thinking today that we are getting paranoid about what is healthy and what isn´t yet we keep on eating more than our share, using more than we should our natural resources and then blame it on a couple of small things the illneses and problems we have atr present.

What's a mosquito MAT? We use repellent and have screens on our doors and windows. We have mosquitoes 6 months out of every year. But I've never heard of a mat!

Hi,
It is indeed necessary in every home to use the mosquito repellents either liquids or mats. I don think these days mats are still being used. We use liquid repellent in all our rooms. In my childhood I remember there were no so many mosquitoes but recent time it is really hard to sleep without a repellent on.
We rarely used to lite the round mosquito coil in my childhood in 1984.Later came the mats and now liquid repellents. I think with these repellents these mosquitoes will not die but will fall asleep, not sure but yes we use liquid repellents.
Thank you

i don't know where you live, but i live in the united states. here we have a mouth wash called 'LISTERINE' it isn't produced for this use but it really works ! my broher told me about this years ago and i and my family, husband children and now grandchildren, have been putting listerine mouth wash on our skin in the summertime when mosquitoes are very bad around here. it is non toxic. my husband and i like to go fishing in the summer and this keeps the other insects away also when we are out on the lake. i hope this helps.
