Need some more ideas...

I know I am in a tight situation here taking care of my son who was in the wreck. But I have been teaching others that I think living introspectively is dangerous. I have decided that when this is all over there are lots of things I want to do to reach out to others. But then I thought, why wait? I figured out I think I will start sending cards to others who are hurt or shut in. I already bought some cards and will start this week. I know what it means to me to just get a card from someone. This is a pretty inexpensive way to live outside my own box! I may start making book marks again too.. But that's about all the ideas I have come up with so far... I need some more! Please share ways I can encourage others even from my little "prison" of sorts!!

"reach out to others"
How about holding free online seminars? You can host for free (up to 10 people) via a site like dimdim (http://www.dimdim.com/features/dimdim_compare.html) which will allow the attendees to see and hear you. Or, sticking with the free theme, connect up to 5 people in a multi-party video conference using software like Eyeball Chat (http://www.eyeballchat.com). This should allow you to reach out and in to the homes of the others - without even needing to spend a penny on travel costs.

I know this may be a hard one to do but what about trying to organise a support group where everyone can try to get together for about an hour say once a month...I know that it may be hard for alot of care givers to be able to get away for such a short time but maybe there are people who would find a way...or even organise/create an online support group where people can get together whenever they have the time just to chat, etc.

That might be a good idea. I don't really know of anyone else in the area, but there must be more! It's so difficult to get out too. If I had a vehicle I would take Chris out more too.. a support group would be a good place to go! I'll have to check it out! thanx!!

How about joining a support group or even starting one for people that are caregivers or just stuck at home. I am a member of another site that I have lots of friends and communicate with them, while earning points for gift cards and money. I have made lots of friends there too.

I am in a support group online it is really good. But it doesn't replace the physical touch of a real hug now and then! But I am going to see what kinds of groups might be in this area.

I hope so. I know I need to know people are thinking about me sometimes. It's good to know people are praying! I think to just get a card would mean a lot too. For someone to take the time to write it and mail it!

I think sending out cards would be a great idea. It seems like people are sending less and less cards out these days and I know people would enjoy getting personalized card. I know that I enjoy getting cards, few that I get these days...thanks to email. I also think that the bookmarks are a good idea as well. I am a reader, but I think even people that aren't readers, could always use bookmarks as well. I don't have any ideas that I can think of, but if I come up with something, I will let you know.

Thanks for you comments!
I agree there's nothing like a personal letter and there are far too few of them these days!
