People are classified into vegetarians , non-vegetarians and some are vegons.People who take meat are considered as non-vegetarians.Vegons do not take milk also as they consider it as another form of blood. They live purely on vegetables. It is good because vegetable food and leafy food are easily digestable. Some are eggarians and they do take eggs because they say there is no life particularly in eggs conceived purely on injections. In South India there is a community called Brahmins to which I belong they do not take eggs also.We call ourselves strict vegetarians. But as take milk can we claim to be strict vegetarians? I doubt. But one thing is very convincing ..that is the vegetarians owe their very existence to non-vegetarians only because if the animals and birds are not cut and eaten they will multiply in numbers and eat away all the vegetables and leaves now available to vegetarians. In the light of the above ..are you vegetarian or non-vegetarian..

I am a vegetarian by not eating even eggs. Milk I consume sometimes. As far as I know those, not consuming meat, are called vegetarians. If that is true, then I am a strict vegetarian. I feel non-veg food will increase the fat content in the body. Since I am not used to non-veg food from my childhood, I do not feel like eating them.

Hi Buchi, I'm so sorry to learn the sad story happened to your elder sister. Time is the only remedy to heal her grief. Fortunate that she at least to have you to accompany and comfort her to live through the grieved time.
The happy two weeks vacation in your daughter place, and the other two weeks in your elder sister's house as well as the Deepavali was in between, I could figure out all these had got you really busy. No wonder I hadn't seen you turned out here for quite some time. Welcome back to mylot and enjoy the fun posting here again.
the mice hanging around might become vegetarian creatures as well for they find no meat anymore.

If mouse does not get non-veg food, then for a change, it will visit my house. But I have two cats in my house. Hence mouse's entry is being curtailed. It is nice to see your post friend, after such a long time. I was away to my daughter's house for a fort night and then deepavali came. On 15th of Nov. my elder sister's husband passed away in Hyderabad city. Hence I had been there for a fort night to be of support to her. My mylot usage is curtailed for some time due to these reasons. Now I am back and I have to pick up my mylot usage. I missed mylot even during these good and later sad days.

Hi chayapathys, I have many Indian friends here are vegetarian. Therefore we could get vegetarian foods from Indian restaurants here. I had been a vegetarian for almost six years. Though, I was not a pure vegetarian I still took milk and egg during those period. At present I'm no longer a vegetarian due to certain reasons. But I yet don't take any non vegetarian food strictly on every first and fifteenth day of the Chinese lunar calendar. The rest of the days I still try my best to take more vegetarian foods. Yeah, I know it's much healthier to take vegetable than meat. Further more this could help to reduce the immolation of domestic animals.
Have a nice day

Hi,
I am not a vegetarian, but I like to eat vegetarian food
especially those made from flour like chicken and pork.
The taste is exactly like real chicken and real pork.
But of course, I don't eat too much as they all consist of
flour.
I do like to eat vegetables,..any kind of vegetables are fine for me.
I also like those beancurds stuffs,it taste great.
For buddhist prayers, we do eat vegetarians on certain days.
Twice a month ,on the 1st and the 15th of the month.

I am a meet eater. Actually I am not so particular about meet. But my husband like very much meet. So I cook meet daily. I just eat whatever I cook for him. I am lazy to cook separately for me. Some times I cook vegetable hot curries for me and store them in the defridge and eat.

Therefore you are non-vegetarian.But sometimes you become vegetarian by necessity or as you say by laziness(excuse me for saying so).Only vegons can be considered as vegetarians and the rest who take milk also are non-vegetarians in the strict sense of the word because milk is considered as blood in another form. What ever it may be we should eat to live and not live to eat...

Food habits are purely personal and it has no family back ground. In strict vegetarian families also some take meat and in non-vegetarian families also some do not touch meat.Healthy food whether vegetarian or non-vegetarian is good for health.Taking meat for your good health you should not hate it. In that aspect you are wrong.Either leave meat or love meat when it is good for you health.

I hate everything that is good health i hate eating it . But my body(stomach) make a mess when i eat only things that i like .
I eat products with meat but i cannot eat it otherwise . And i live in a family where such products i can see once in 2 months - so i rarely eat any meat (as i said products) , and i need to cook for my self because my family eat only meat soups or other things with meat .
And you cant tell me to love meat cuz i can puke from more then 95% of the meats out there because i dont like them .

Very good.you have clarified your position. The vegetarians should feel grateful to you because of you being a meat eater they are able to survive. If all choose to be vegetarian only animals and birds will survive on this earth as I have clarified in my discussion

As I explained in my post that there is no strict vegetarian in the strict of the word when you consume milk which is nothing but blood in another form.Only vegons can be considered as vegetarians. In India I did not find any vegon. In England I came across vegon hotels but I did not visit them. In America also I did not come across any vegon hotels. I do not know about other countries. Both vegetarian and non-vegetarian food is meant meant for human consumption only.No ethics are attached to non-vegetarian food....

we do both so we are "flexitarians" :) I had to learn how to cook for my vegetarian daughter, and then began incorporating it into meals for the rest of my carnivorous bunch. instead of ground beef we use TSP. we have at least one meat free night, free from any representation of meat - like cheese enchiladas, and I now know how to make sietan in beef and chicken flavor so when we have broccoli beef stir fry we can mix it up with the beef flavored sietan.

Well, I'm an omnivore, so I can say that I prefer being non vegetarian I like food very much, meat, veggies, products made with milk and eggs too. I like a balanced diet where I can eat different kinds of nutrients and enjoy different kinds of tastes too, so I can keep a healthy body and also keep myself strong to deal with everyday life

So you prefer to be non-vegetarian.The vegetarians should be grateful to you because unless you cut animals and birds and eat they will eat away all vegetables and fruits now available to vegetarians. They ow their very existence to you people. Is it not great that by killing animals you are saving human lives...

I'm a non-vegetarian but most of my meal consists of 90% vegetables; I knew the health benefits vegetables can do for our body. Regards with the meat, well I don't eat solely meat dishes, it has to be with lots of vegetables. My favorite meat is chicken meat, a lean pork and seldom with beef. Aside from the meat, I love to eat fish.

First of all its spelled vegan not vegon. Secondly there is more to being vegan than not drinking milk. And I have never heard the idea that vegans don't drink milk because they think it's another form of blood. That is absurd. A vegan is simply a stricter form of vegetarian. Vegetarians eat no animal flesh but will partake of their products, such as milk, cheese, and eggs. And they eat much more than just vegetables, they eat fruit, grains, nuts, pasta, and anything else that does not involve animals in any way. Vegans do not eat animal flesh or any thing els that comes from an animal (milk, eggs, cheese, etc.) Strict vegans go further than that -- they will not use any animal products either. They will not wear furs or leather or silk... etc. And to state that vegetarians owe their existence to meat eaters is preposterous. Vegetarians can grow, do grow, and will grow their leaves, plants, vegetables, and fruits inside where the animals can't reach them should that need ever arise, which is doubtful.

I eat meat and love it. I maybe a little hypocritical because I'm not sure I could ever kill anything but that's what we have grocery stores for. I don't even like to go fishing but that's mostly because I find it boring as all get out. I love a good steak and put some sauce on it and I'm good to go.

I'm a complete non-vegterian and have got no plans to hop onto veg anytime soon...however i might consider deleting few sweet creatures i tend to like in the coming days coz they're so sweet to be killed and cooked! As of the beliefs you have mentioned it all depends on ones mind set -- there are brahmins who opt for eggs for various reasons and vice-versa.Any food taken in moderate levels would never deteriorate ones health. So have food at your will than to fill in your stomach with water to reduce the intake of food and then WORK OUT HARDER to burn those extra calories.great day.

What a lot of ill-informed non-sense! Where did you find all this rubbish? OK. Time to clear up a few myths of yours:
Your opening question: not too brilliant; most people prefer to be what they are.
What is a Vegon? Does such a word even exist? You really haven't done your research at all, have you? The word you're looking for is Vegan, as others have corrected you already.
Why even open up such a ridiculous, divisive topic? What do you hope to gain by it?
How many vegans consider milk another form of blood? I don't know any!
Vegans live purely on vegetables? Ha! You might want to get some of your facts straight before you start a fight you can't win. Most vegans I know are very intelligent & live on a balanced diet of grains, legumes, vegetables, fruit, nuts & seeds.
The term for vegetarians who also eat eggs is ovo-vegetarian, not eggarian.
The Brahmins refer to themselves as strict vegetarians, or more correctly as strict lacto-vegetarians because they don't sometimes eat meat as some other so-called part time vegetarians do.
Your so-called "convincing argument" has already been countered elsewhere by Yours Truly. The original argument was proposed by those who do not bother to observe the natural cycles of population control in the world around them. When animals breed up due to an abundance of food or an absence of predators in a certain location, they reach a point where the food source dries up or disease spreads or predators are attracted from further away & the population is automatically maintained without any need for human intervention whatsoever. Human farmers & home owners already have become very good at protecting their crops, so there is no danger of them being devoured by so-called competing animals. The animals that are in huge numbers are cattle & sheep, etc & only because the livestock industry purposefully, forcefully & unnaturally breed them & guard them because every slice of meat purchased creates a demand for more & more, by any barbaric means that will deliver high volumes & high profits to the breeder.
So in light of the above, what are you? If you're vegetarian, you've probably done more damage to your cause than aided it!

I like to eat meat, fish, egg, vegetables, pulses, milk, cereals and everything. Then pls tell me which group am i belonging to? Am I a vegetarian + non vegetarian or a vegetarian? I don't know the answer. People who eat only vegetables are called vegetarians. Then who are non vegetarian? - People who eat only non veg or those who eat both veg and non veg? I like to get an answer.
