There are many myths associated with hyenas. Growing up as a child, my mother used to silence me in the middle of a nagging cry whenever she told me the hyena was coming for me! We were being told that the hyena’s teeth could bite a metal to pieces and that some of the most lethal weapons of the hyena was the missile of bones they release as excrement at their foes-in fact my father used to tell me a hyena swallows chunks of bones whole which it later uses to send a volley of excrement at its enemies-the bones are usually released with such force that it could kill!
