Losing connections is very frustrating!

Dear fellow mylotters and friends,
I'm sure some of you have experienced having disconnected unexpectedly while surfing the net. A few days back, as I was watching a streaming of a television drama series, my connection just went out. I was wondering why all of a sudden it went out at around 1a.m. our time when almost 80% of the population is in dreamland. The telephone line went dead too. The following morning, I immediately contacted our service provider (thanks to cellular phone invention we do not have to rely solely on land line connections) and found out that there was again an attempt to steal cable lines by some unscrupulous individuals who wanted to sell the copper wirings used by the telephone company. Fortunately, the attempt was foiled and the tel. co. was able to fix and return connections by mid day of the same day. It has happened twice before that these thieves succeeded to steal meters of cables and rendered our telephone lines dead for some number of months. In another attempt, few years back, we learned that a resident from our subdivision actually shot a man caught cutting the lines on a telephone pole nearby that eventually killed the perpetrator.
Just wondering if this only happens here in our country. Are there any of you out there who had experienced such? I don't know if there are long term solutions to this kind of problems. There are people who only rely on quick means to survive and in our country, the fight against poverty has been an aged old problem.
Somehow, I wish to see the day that better things would come to save the world and rid of those people who only see gain at the expense of others. What have you to say?

Hi Bluebelle~I'm sorry to hear of your problem. We do lose our
connections here from time to time. In fact, sometimes my
Cable/Internet/Phone Provider will do some updating or repairs
at "off hours" and disconnect the service suddenly without any
notice! This has happened to me quite a few times and then there
are times when the service just goes down on its own. I do know
about the "copper thieves" too! We do have that problem here
in the US too. At the moment I think all is being done that can
be done to protect plumbing and cables and everything else that
uses Copper! We can only hope that the world we get better!

Hello Opal26, my friend,
It's been a while since I last interacted here. I've been very busy with my daughter's homeschooling affairs. I just didn't have enough time to respond to discussions in the past. Thanks for your response. I thought the problem of copper thieves is just an issue here in our country. It's just a relief that we got back our connection really fast and some people are quick enough to respond to stop crime perpetrators. I hope in the next decades, someone would invent a goody good system where people will be stopped before they even think of masterminding a crime. Some sort of brain washing machine that could erase bad or evil intentions from the human kind. Then probably the world will be a lot better place to live.
Have a nice day and stay healthy always. =)

I thought that my internet was playing up when i first got this pc, all it was in the end was me pushing the wrong button on my key board. After a while the internet company had to do repairs and i also thought that was due to me pushing the wrong button on my key board again.I would hate it if i lost connection now as this is the best thing that i have ever owned.

I agree with you Joystick that the computers are the best inventions in our era. I also love to while away my time in front of my computer and it does frustrate me if I can't browse the internet. I am that person who goes to surfing everytime something pops-up my mind. Searching the web makes me feel connected to the world.
Thanks for the response.

We do not have too much of a problem with the loss of connection here in the UK.Sometimes they have to repair their connection the other end as well as ensure that there are no faults, so that is when it has to go down, but they tend to do repairs after midnight so that is not too bad.Sometimes it makes me cross if i am in the middle of something and it happens, but that is not very often.I hear people say that they are having problems with their connection and they think that it is todo with atmospheric problems.

Thanks for the response. I'm sure that there aren't any problems with your internet connections over your end and I've heard they are mighty fast as well. I hope our service provider make better their systems here. God bless!
