Are you close to your cousins? I have 17 of them, but I'm not really close to any. Every single one of them live in another country and they are at least 15 years older than me. They do not speak my language. When I was little, I always wished that I had close cousins like everyone.

Close you mean by distance? Or relationship?

I used to live in a small town where everybody knows pretty much everyone. My first degree cousins from my dad's side of the family mostly reside there. Yeah I have a pretty solid relationship with my cousins. I've known them since childhood and one of them is my best friend. We're pretty tight.

Hi,
Even our family is a big family and I had many cousins who are younger to me and elder to me. I used to be very close with 3 of my cousins who are of the same age of mine. We used to secretly smoke at the age of 17. It was always fun in those days.
Now we all are busy with our lives all of us busy in fulfilling family's responsibilities. We hardly get any time like we had in childhood. We try to meet at least once in 6 months and sit for a drink memorizing our childhood and teenage adventures.
Happy Living

Hi,
I have lot of cousins...more than 20,but we are not that close.
We still do contact each other(only some of them),but we are not like
hanging around all the time.
Only once a year, then we will have chance to meet up during the chinese new year.
They will pay my family a visit and it same goes to me, my family will
pay them a visit too.
I do hope one day, I would be able to meet up with all my cousins and
have super big gathering with them. For sure, it will be very fun.

thats sad to know lore2009... well at least you have a reason not to be close to anyone of them. I am really close to my cousins. when they visit us mostly on weekends, we would eat coz thats our bonding moment. sometimes we would go and swim at a nearby resort, or they would sleep over at our house. happy mylotting!

i have many cousins from my mother's side and i don't know how many exactly. my father didn't have any siblings as he was the only child so i don't have any from his side. actually, my maternal grandfather had four wives so it's obvious that i have many cousins from her side. or would u call the others as half cousins? well, i'm not at all close with them.
talking about my real cousins i have eight of'em from my two uncles (my mom's brothers). i was close with them during childhood but not much now. actually i was the closest with three of them, two girls and a boy, who are my second uncle's (mom's immediate elder brother) children. i spent a considerable part of my childhood at their place due to mom's on and off relationship with dad, so we were really close. but as we grew up and i was sent to boarding schools i hardly got to meet them. as we went our own ways we became less close. now all three of them are now married. we do meet sometimes when i go to their place with mom but we ain't that close anymore and are casual in our approaches to each other.

hello lore!
yes, i'm close to my cousins and although we live in different parts of the country and the world (others are working outside the country), we still find time to communicate sometimes. We maintain communication through facebook, emails, texting and calling. It's not really necessary to be neighbors or living in the same town or city with cousins. It's the will and desire to be closed to them that counts. Coz whereever they are, all of you will find ways to communicate with each other and feel the bond that you had shared like before.

i used to be closed to them until these days that we had grown up and mos of them have this crab mentality. it's really annoying. i shed tears because of their treatments to us. we just wanted a closure but their parents dont like us to be together. my mom said it's the role model that inflicted the bad characters to their minds.

I'm somewhat close to a couple of my second cousins living in California. They came and visited once when I was younger and they are 5 and 6 years older than me. When I went to school in California they let me stay at their house for a couple weeks. We went out to eat or the movies and I got really drunk with one of cousins and her friends when I was underage at a Korean bar with booking which is an awful tradition where the waiters pull girls by the wrist to tables full of guys to drink and socialize with them. It was such a sausagefest that night too. You couldn't go to the dance floor or the bathroom without getting intercepted. It's not like any of the guys were interested in me because it was an older crowd and I clearly looked underage.

well.. from our point of view its really not that great. sure you may do things together alot.but when it really comes to have a close cousin it gets really annoying because if your to close they wont let go.
there are alot of up and downs about have a close cousin just a few ups
1.you always have somewhere to go when you have no one else to hangou with
2.you always do things together!
Downs
1.it gets annoying to hang with 1person all the time
well i cant really cant tell you how its like because its always different for everyone else.
but if you really want a close cousin just take the time and learn the language the speak. and go over and hang with them for about 1month. you will see what i mean!

I only have four cousins; three on my Dad's side (girls) and one on my mother's side (boy). I live close to two of those cousins (two on my Dad's side, sisters) who live in the same city I live, but the others live in other parts of the country.

I have a couple of cousins that I am close to but rarely get to see as we live far apart. However, I do have my favorite cousin and he will always be close in my heart even though we do not get to see each other often. I also talk to him by text a lot.

Not everybody has close cousins. I have cousins by the dozens. They all live in the same country but not in the same state. Out of three dozen cousins, I'm close to 3 or 4 of them. I am making an effort to get closer to more of them via Facebook. I've even picked up the children of some of my first cousins and could easily pick up some of my cousins' grandchildren. Maybe that's the direction you should go. If all your cousins are at least 15 years older than you, maybe their children would be more receptive.

I was closed with my cousin when I was single. Now, I can't close to them because I have my own children. I can not devote my attention to them anymore because my attention is now fully for my children. Nevertheless, I still can communicate with them because we frequently visited each other. We live in the same country, in the same island with the same language. No language problem between us. It's just that I can no longer treat them like my son again like when I was single.

I love lots of cousins, some that I have never even met before too and I used to be close to my cousins but as we all got older, we're all different and we are all totally changed different people. We still talk at family gatherings but we don't hang out like before.
