Why? Who started it all...yeah, the Umbrella Corp. But who threw the T virus anyway in the 1st movie which triggered the alarm and killed everyone then turned them into zombie? Does anyone know who started it all? I've watched the series many times but i still haven't fully understood what happened. :(

Yes, this is also what I remembered but I think he did not suffer from amnesia (movie-based). He was killed by the monster from the Tvirus he released.

It all started with some lab accident led to Dr. William birkin breaking a vial of t virus I think. It somehow infects rat that carry it to the city.

Its the partner of Alice an Umbrella operative that decides to make a lot of money in stilling some T virus. In the opening of the movie it shows that he throw a vial of T virus in the room making the whole building infected and just before he got out of the mansion the supercomputer manage to seal the building and release a nerve gas inside and outside of the building thats why even Alice is unconscious in the beginning of the movie.

It was a virus that mutated I believe. they were trying to create people that could be used as weapons and it backfired. Then they could not stop or control it.
