Don't you get tired that show biz gets too much air time on our T.V.? On Prime time news and even repeated over and over again, and more show biz on the next gossip show, when all the air time should have been used for science, business and technology? Even petty quarrels between stars are glamorized that it gives a bad signal to the young . Join a contest or sing well and you will make lots of money instead of research for advancement of tech and be an entrepreneur. What do you think guys? Am I the only one who feels this way?

Yeah, Philippine T.V. is full of gossip and showbiz. I think they just focus on politics and other good stuff. The stars' fighting and gossip does not do any good in the country. They just give a bad impression to our country.

its not that i don't like the local tv channels but i totally agree with you. local tv channels like abs and gma has more shobiz. It's all about the rating and star promotion and since we Filipinos like rumors or gossips shows and shows that give out cash or prizes than educational show then that's what they'll give. don't worry you're not the only one who feels that way. more Filipinos, specially the younger ones like informative shows and shows that can enhance their skills.

So louie, I am right behind you if we are marching to MTRCB to demand the deletion of Lolit Solis, Christy Fermin, Bhoy Abunda, Kris Aquino, Willie Revillame, the Gutierrez siblings, the Eat Bulaga dabarkads, the Tweezmiz gang, and many others on Philippine television. Scrap shows, too, such as Jerry Springer, Maury, Survivor, Big Brother, show biz talks shows, etcetera. Those reality shows like Search for top fashion models are also annoying. Time to tune Philippine tv to a new level.

I guess you have to blame the local channel executives for that. The reason why showbiz is very prevalent in local TV channels is because the channels themselves have their own showbiz roster that they would like to publicize in every airtime that they can have. Showbiz is a small world but the channels make the issues themselves to gain more publicity from people - most specifically the fans of the artists that they handle. Since showbiz is a productive avenue in local television, executives have no qualms in airing issues and pseudo-issues. In the occurrence of this situation, I am very grateful for cable television that enables me to escape or enjoy other programming without having to suffer trivial things like petty quarrels about people who just happen to be famous and good-looking. My time is better spend learning about other things and opening myself to the world issues that is worth more air time than discussing an issue without a conclusion in sight. Besides, knowledge that come from other channels are more productive and efficient in the present an din the future compared to a showbiz issue that will leave the viewer into vague avenues that in the long run has no purpose nor no positive effect.

hi its a lot the same way here In Southern California we have p people wanting to know all the cruddy details of their fights with boy friends and spouses. why I ask ,myself?I know that I really do not care about their private lives and feel they keep their privates lives private. What a message they send to impressionable young people: be a movie star and never have to work as its all fun and games. that's just not true as top actors work very hard indeed.so help your star struck youngsters to consider studying other fields too besides acting. l sfaj i a

The kind of media we have reflects the kind of attitude we have. It shows that Filipinos are laid back and happy go lucky and easy going people who take things lightly. We just want to be entertained and avoid serious issues as much as possible since serious issues are often boring. The media on the other hand only responds to the kind of viewers it has. But like any other businesses it has to attract viewers also. If it only provides serious reports every time chances are the viewer will change channels right away. That's why they always highlight the showbiz section and give the audience on what's to follow especially on the current celebrity gossip, this will keep the viewer glued and wait for that section. But I don't think it's limited to Philippine TV alone.
