Why don't they cut their pay?

Congress decided to cut the funding for the unemployment extension, even though the unemployment rate is still quite high. How many thousands need work and cannot find work? What a nice time to give them their early Christmas gift. Some will be homeless. Yet, they got their raise this year. I don't even know how much they make now. With the shape the economy is in, one would think those guys would have been in solidarity and voted to nix the raise, but enough did not. Yet, they have enough votes to vote down the extension to people, cutting out their livelihood. My roomie will not get the extension now, and has been trying to find a job. I was not prepared for this, and it will also put me in a bind. However, this guy really has it rough. He can't go live with his family, for some reason they don't want him. I see that he is helpful to others, he hasn't done anything to raise red flags of his behavior to me, yet his family doesn't want to help him. This is the first time in his life he has no job, no income. Always he has helped his family when he could, and now they will not help him. I just do not understand it. How can they leave someone out in the cold like that? He is independent, not needy, not greedy. I just can't comprehend it.

All political parties are like that. Once they get the crown, they act as they like. They never think of people and their difficulties. But here I like to share my feeling about your roommate. What kind of parents are they? Don't they have eyes to see their son's sufferings? I'm really pity about your friend. Tell him to work hard and find out a good job as fast. May God bless him!!!!

Congress no longer represents we the people they represent the lobbyist that pays them the most money to vote the way some big money wants them to vote. And they are not going to cut their own wages of course but giving themselves a pay raise is wrong completely with our nations in dire economic problems and getting worse. I do think it was good Obama wants to freeze wages for federal workers. They make good money too. But Congress had NO right to give themselves a pay hike when everyone else is taking cuts everywhere.

You would have to get a factual understanding of why his family feels like this. Sometimes people who are nice to us treat their family in the worst possible ways. With family members there is often much emotional garbage and very short fuses on temper. That may or may not be the issue, but it is what came to mind.

Here's an article by a lady named Kara that I first read a few days ago. I find her ideas to be very helpful and hope that you and your friend will, too. http://www.gather.com/viewArticle.action?articleId=281474978731625 She has written several more articles at Gather along with having a blog, so I'm going to share links to both her profile page and her blog here: http://karathrace.gather.com/ http://gchristinemakingmoneyonline.blogspot.com Let me know if this helps your friend who sounds like a very deserving young man.

The people in Congress do not care one bit about the people suffering at this time. They only care that they are still getting their overpaid checks and their medical benefits. I feel so bad for your friend and what he is going through. Looking for job and not being able to find one is quite frustrating I know. After 9/11 I was out of a job for almost a year. When there are no jobs out there its hard for people to survive. The people in congress just don't get this concept. Then we wonder why people lose control and start committing crimes. I will pray for your friend that something good happens real soon for him. However, I do wonder why his family is treating him like this. There has to be a reason unless they are just not nice supporting type people.

Wow you got that right. You can see how much they make if you go to the right web sites. Also Obama said he was freezing wage increase of all White House staff. Yeah he did he gave most a different title and a nice big fat raise to go along with it. Just look into their benefits and retirement. No one retires or should I say a regular worker with the benefits these cronies do. Then go to your state and start looking at their pay and their retirement and benefits. Then you will have the answer why this state and government is broke. No one is looking out for the little guy.

The economic turmoil in USA has forced the Government and Fed in giving stimulus packages to enable the economy to recover soon. But,it seems to have yielded very poor result so far.Unemployment and economic insecurity are looming large all across the country and have severely broken down the backbone of several families. The thousands of jobless and homeless need to be fed and supported by the Government,at this tough time. The common citizens are to wake up to the call of the time and force the Government to reduce wastage of resources and expenditure at high levels.

This is a very frustrating act. I fully believe that this was a terrible and selfish decision, especially during this extremely difficult time. I wish your roommate the best of luck in the search for a job because no one deserves the unemployment life. I hope that this payment cut isn't a pretense for more negative changes in unemployment.
