You can't give up, or be discouraged by how much you make off from the start, when trying to earn money online. Back when I first started writing for Triond, I was only making about 5 cents a day, but I stuck with it, wrote more articles, and the earnings started rising. Now I have 300 articles written, and I am making about 40-50 dollars a month now, without submitting anymore content :D Try to focus on using passive income sites, like freelance writing sites, that way your earnings always go up the more you use it. I'm still in the process of finding good sites to earn money from, so you aren't alone. I've heard that survey sites are one of the better ways to make money quickly. I also play skilladdiction.com, which is a game website where you can earn money by entering tournaments. I've made about $15 dollars there and I don't play everyday. Just depends on your skill. Also, you can try finding a job at Freelancer.com, as people post new jobs every few hours and at least one might like to employ you if you've got experience.
