I used to get a bit annoyed and roll my eyes when people asked me if I ate fish, since I was a vegetarian, fish is also meat! And this new term, called "pescetarian" or some silly stuff like it makes more people ask such,I don't think we need or should label every single way of eating, or I'd see junktarians any time soon , I just can't tell when people started to use such term and now many people get confused and think eating fish is being a vegetarian, do anyone knows when this term came out?
Also what's your view on trying to name every way we eat?
Thanks

"Junkatarians" LMAO. How true. Okay, yep - I agree with you. I think labeling in general is bad, although if I had to label my diet - it would be "vegetarian". A lot of people ( TONS ) are constantly asking me if I eat fish, or even chicken. Apparently everyone's opinion of the definition of "vegetarian" is different, because I figure if I eat fish or chicken, I am not a vegetarian. But it doesn't really matteer in the end, I don't think. But I used to get annoyed also when people who DID eat fish considered themselves openly to be a "vegetarian" and thought that was wrong. I mean.. There's the whole debate of whether or not fish feel, but I consider them a type of animal - and so I would not eat them. And I believe they do feel. Agh.
Well, anyway, I agree that it's frustrating to say the least. But as time goes by, I care less and less what other people are doing (and labelling themselves as) and less and less about what other people are thinking about me. Hmmm.

Yeah fishes are definetely animals that feel, well I think that and that's what counts, the key to live longer is to care less about what people think, that is true indeed!

A lot of the vegetarians I knew used to always say, "I'm vegetarian except I eat fish or chicken". I think that is where people got confused. Some vegetarians eat eggs and use butter, right? I heard that vegan would be the "proper" title for people who do not eat anything that comes from meat.

oh it's ok for everyone to eat what they want,I think and I feel my health is ok without animals, but if people feel good about it,then that's good too,my family eats meat, and we are all happy and healthy in our own way!

I prefer vegan diet and vegan lifestyle, but I am not strict about it. I eat fish or crevettes but very rarely. It is the cause that I don't call myself vegetarian. My meals are about 95% vegetable. I eat some butter or eggs from time to time, but I feel better when I eat only plant food.
I know many people who prefer vegetarian diet like me. They also don't call themselves vegetarians because of the fact that they hardly ever eat fish or maybe meat something like twice a year. In Poland where I live not many people are vegetarian but it seems that year by year more people are interested in beeing vegetarian. It is great because it helps to avoid animal suffering and in the same time it helps to keep fit and be healthy.
I could call myself maybe "almost-vegan". I was typical meat eater because my parents are meat eaters. I stopped eating meat slowely, in steps. First I tried to reduce eating meat. When I get used to not eating meat I noticed that meat doesn't look tasty for me anymore. Then I avoid eating milk and milk products (they cause cold when I eat them). I avoid also eating fish and I see that the longer I avoid eating fish the more I don't like eating fish. So I think that in the future I manage to be a "real" vegetarian.
My parents has seriuos health problems and they also avoid eating meat daily. They eat meat only at weekends what is much better than eating meat few times a day. So when I was a child my parents teach me to eat meat and now I teach them to not eat meat - funny but true.
I wouldn't call myself pescetarian because I know exactly what beeing a vegetarian means and I think that pescetarian sounds silly. I only say that I prefer not eating meat or milk if I'm asked. And yes, sometimes I have to explain that fish belongs to meat to.
Have a nice day, jazgottt.

How true that is I know. I am vegan and I get all kind of questions about it. When was vegetarian I was asked if I ate fish, no I didn't. I got asked if chicken is an animal and yes it is I had replied. Some people are confused if a vegetarian eats fish. I think pescetarian is a person that eats fish but not any other sort of meat. Yes, fish is a meat. I am pleased to be vegan and when I was a young child I became a vegetarian.

Well see vegetarian concept is not wide spread and believe me or not some people think its abnormal. There are some people who have never meet, seen vegetarian person in real.Whenever i have admitted i am vegetarian on inter national forums like mylot there have been atlist some people who have told me they think being vegetarian can make you seek ,weak etc etc.
There are some communities in India who are vegetarian but traditionally they are eating fish as well.No other meat just fish. Its an exception. So this confusion is here in some parts of India as well.I have no idea why it is there in other countries.
It bother me when people try to label everything. It isnt good thing.I for the one do not like to get stamp on me.
