Many people are confused with one of the latgest religion of the world, Islam. Many people have preconcieved idea. Some think it is an idelogy more than a religion as it followers try to spread a form of a system of orgnazation than a system of belief. Can someone, a simple follower can explain to enlighten others in simple terms so that we can know and appreciate each other's faith and tolerate and respect other freedom of choice, conscience and faith.

Hi jak, Yes Islam is a religion just as Christianity is a religion. Many people don't think of Buddhism as a religion but rather as a way of life. I am spiritual but not religious but I do think that all religions should unite under the golden rule and we could than live together in peace. We could quickly eliminate many of the biggest problems such as hunger and homelessness. Blessings.

All religions are ideologies. And frankly, to my mind the various ideologies behind the various religions are all desperately intellectually ineffective. They are all based on the fallacy of faith being more important than fact.
