Wikipedia Question?

An appeal from Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales I saw this appeal on Wikipedia tonight. Aparently the founder Jimmy Wales is asking for money but it doesn't really say why accept to keep the site free. If he is asking for money isn't that an oxymoron. Do you think this is a real appeal?

At Wikipedia they always ask for money every year. They do this to keep their site running. Wikipedia has help me alot even if some information is misleading sometimes. I don't know what I would do without Wikipedia around.

Cecil04,, really you use Wikipedia that much. I have never trusted the information so it isn't my first choice to go to that site at all.
