I find King a great writer, but above that, where comes the inspiration of writers? They are amazing, make us travel really, in your bed, in your couch, wherever you are reading.

King first got famous by taking old horror ideas and updating them. Vampires, werewolves, etc. He lucked onto that after writing other books that didn't sell initially (the early Bachman books) but still had some sinister qualities. When I think about it now, the idea of a car chasing people and killing them was sort of one of my childhood nightmares. I can still remember worrying about whether the car could make it up the back steps of the house to get me. King was actually lucky in that did hit it big fairly quickly compared to a similar author, Dean Koontz. Koontz wrote numerous books under a variety of pseudonyms that he got published, usually only as paperbacks, before he became famous. A lot of Koontz's ideas also are taken from other peoples stories and told in a new way.

I guess it has become more of his world, than talent and so inspiration could probably not have so much a role in it. I like his works very much and have been influenced by his style of writing.

hi katieo oh Stephen king is one of my favorite writers. I think each writer probably gets his or her inspirationg from differemt things as writing is sort of personal, in a way.For me the strange almost surreal last two years of my life have inspired me to start writing my autobiograp;hy as I sit here and know just a few paychecks separated my adult son and myself from the middle class life in an apartment tol this excuse for a place to stay for me here in G old Crest retirement center. My son lost his job, we ran out of money and were evicted. made homeless we were in a state of shock as it all happened so rapidly. as I was 83 then and a diabetic with a bad leg my son insisted I could not keep wandering from homeless shelter to homeless shelter. so he helped me get in here. I want to make this very clear I am not here free as one mylotter sniped at me and hurt me with it, I pay my social security and ss i checks to them and get b ack whats left over after room and board are taken out. my son got gov.help to get into a free apartment with three other men so they would have a place with an address when looking for work.all this has inspired me to put it down on paper and maybe make people realize we all need to have money in the bank in case one of us loses his or her job.so my last two years is my inspiration from being a farm child in a farm in South Dakota to a nurses aide to marrying a co worket to a wonderful marriage to work as a librarian to being retired to the last two years. so we all have different sources for inspiration.

Comes from within, from experience or just plan old imagination. Stephen King does all of that, that is why I love his books. He has inspired me to write. :)
