My neurologist prescribed phenergan for nausea and vomiting and vicodin for the severe pain I get with my migraines. I get them several times a month though I try
to be careful what I eat and try to keep stress down by taking an antidepressant every day. These medicines don't seem to be helping me at all anymore. Last night after I took my phenergan I still kept vomiting continuously for almost four hours then today I got real bad jaw pain with a migraine headache. I took the medicines and the vicodin didn't do anything for the pain. My ears popped quite a bit but that was all. I ended up having to go to the emergency room and get several shots.

Migraine is caused by blood vessels constricting and the blood trying to push through these. I use a tablet called cafergot and u take it every half an hour (as soon as the feeling comes on) for 2 hours. The Caffiene in the tabs dialates the blood vessels and allows blood flow to return to normal again. I am sorry this is so painful for you, I would be inclined to get a second opinion as well tho, just incase...good luck

So sorry to hear of your migraine pains as I am one who is an expert at experiencing the same. I have been told by my neurologist that my body is getting immune to certain medication.
So each time they stop continuing to do the pain relieving I get switched to something different. Which I find definitely helps for about 1 -2 years then I back to the drawing room.

That sounds bad. I suggest to consult other neurologist and have a brain imaging or what we call CT scan. Migraine usually do something with the brain. I have a friend of mine who also experienced migraine almost everyday. A lot of pain relievers were took already and the doctor's finding is just in the eyes. They change only the grade of her glasses. But months later nothing is change and a lot of test was done only to find out she has a brain tumor. She's recovering now from surgery and doing great though.

Have you tried any of the medications specifically for migraines? Maxalt, Amerge, imetrex are a few. There are others out there also.
Topamax is a medication that is taken on a daily basis to help prevent or reduce the amount of migraines.
Also, Phenergan comes in a suppository which is more effective in stopping the nausea and vomiting since the pills are hard to keep down long enough to be effective.
Have you tried using a icepack on the back of your neck and/or the side of your head? I manage to get a bit of relief from using them.
One of the biggest problems from nausea and vomiting is becoming dehydrated which will actually make the headache worse. I cannot drink water when I have a migraine so I will sip on a sports drink with ice in it.
I am sorry you have been suffering with migraines. I know they are very painful since I suffer from them also.
Ask your doctor about the medications I have listed and see what he/she thinks. One of them may work for you.
