Dear All,
I was brought up in a traditional Chinese family. My parents taught me not to say hi to others by touching other's shoulder from the back. It is a very impolite way of greeting people. The most important thing is according to the Chinese herbal doctor, touching the shoulder in certain force would cause miss carriage, so we are taught not to do this with any lady. The polite way of saying hi is saying it face to face and of course with a lovely smile. :D
How do you feel? What do you think?
Looking forward to sharing with you your comment or experience.
Happy mylotting!

Saying hi while touching on the shoulder is ok with me. That's a bit exaggerated though when you said a simple touch on the shoulder can lead to miscarriage. I used to touch my mom on the shoulder everytime when she was pregnant of my youngest brother and she didn't have a miscarriage.
