Are you familiar with "fried ice cream"? I wonder whit it's called as such, though it's not really fried. Ain't that weird?

I once ate "fried ice cream" at a Chinese restaurant and it looked fried to me. I am not familiar with the technique they use to make it look like this but it sure was delicious. I might search recipes online just to find out how they make it. P.S. It's not that weird because lots of dishes have names that don't quite correspond to their ingredients.

Maybe the one you've mentioned is different from OUR fried ice cream here in Philippines, that's why I found it really weird. :)) Anyway, thanks! :D

Fried ice cream really is fried! :-) I use to waitress at a restaurant and we had that on our dessert menu. The ice cream scoop has a crunchy layer on it and we would throw it into the deep fryer for about 30 seconds. Just little enough time so that it didn't melt the ice cream.

The only kind I had heard of was where they deep fry ice cream that has been rolled in flour, sugar or some other substance to prevent it from melting. I went off looking for what you were talking about and I think I found it. In the Philippines, some places sell a fried ice cream that is cold. It is "fried" in a large frying pan. Really it isn't fried but rather flash frozen. So it goes in liquid comes out as ice cream. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v9_cBsIHjeM Jessica
