How do you quit smoking when you know it is dangerous for health.

Hi Mylotters, I want to put this discussion in the health section because I know that smoking is bad for health and I am a constant smoker these days. I need to quit smoking because somebody told me that my lungs are more sensitive to diseases. I can not tell you why he said so. I think now I should decide to quit the smoking. I have lowered my rate of smoking now and I am happy for it. Do you think it is possible to quit smoking? If yes then how? Don't put here simply that you should quit smoking, that is what I already know. You should write some good stories of a someone who quit the smoking or something like your own story. Does this discussion sounds like a task for you? Please take is as a task, but I will not pay. Good ideas are welcome. Thank you in advance.

Hi , it is possible to quit smoking ut you need determination, i quit a few years back by working out when the most common parts o the day was that i would reach or a cig, these turned out to be first thing in the morning , ater eating and once i had compleated my challenge of getting the kids to bed so i started off by just smoking at these times and inbetween i would have a sugar free lolly ( kept my hands busy) after about a week i started cutting out the ater lunch and dinner cig and just kept to having my morning and evening smoke. Again after another week i cut out my morning smoke and stuck to my sugar free lollys, when i was actually ready which was by about the 4th week i cut out my evening smoke and was then smoke free, it wasnt easy and throughout the years i have had the odd slip up but i found this method worked for me . :)

Hello Zamosangel1984, I can see that you have done a lot of hard work to quit smoking. I think it will not be possible for me to try your method but I appreciate your share in this discussion. Thank you for writing in.

Hi here, It's not suddenly possible to leave the habit of smoking. I'm not smokes and If I suppose that I smokes, then I should leave this habit. I 'll try to keep away my this habit from me. One should Try who smokes that he should smoke little. As the day pass he should Try to leave this habit. Then only a smoke habit can be leaved..

IU know too taht it is bad for my health and my purse but that is not making me stop. I was in hospital last week for surgery and I thought that it would be easy not to smoke after a forced stop of four days. That is not the case though I have the packet in a drawer out of sight and out of reach and I have cut down from a packet a day to only five, which might be a start to stopping but... why did I ever start in the first place?!

Some people are able to quit smoking cold turkey without any problems. Spme people just don't have the willpower to see it through. If you are serious about quitting smoking, try seeking medical advice. It will be a good choice for your health and the health of others around you.

It's not easy to quit smoking but it can be done if you are really willing to..otherwise you'll suffer in the end if you don't.. take care of your body! :)

got to make your mind that you really want to quit smoking...make it a "must do", and always remind yourself about it... if you feel the urge to smoke, try to deny yourself first and see how can far you can go...try this exercise and often and check if there's an improvement..if every time you do this and each time the longer you can deny yourself of it, then you're on the right track..until you finally have stopped it... one thing more, as much as possible avoid situations/places wherein you can't resist to smoke...
