How do we change our luck

Ok this is something im really interested in i.e the law of attraction, i havent had the best luck in the world apart rom my amazing kids but other then that life has been pretty hard on me and so i started reading the book '' The Secret'' again this is all about the law of attraction, it tells us that we need to think positive, be positive and live positive which i have really tried to do but have found mysel still having so much bad luck, money is hard, health is not great and i wish i could just turn it all around and start having some positive outcomes, what are peoples openions on this and any suggestions to what i am doing wrong
