Video blog in youtube, is it a good idea?

Hello friends,
i want to ask, do you have a blog in youtube or your own channel there?
I've watched really interesting videos in youtube. Lately i listen not only music there, but i watch funny clips or messages. There are so many interesting stuff.
So i'm thinking to make myself a video blog in youtube, it will be a channel. But i'm not sure what the topic must be. My boyfriend said "Don't do it, you will be disappointed of the negative rating, if you have such and you will be definitely insulted, because there always will have rude people, who will put rude comments under your videos.
But that's not the most important for me. If i follow my leading principles, which are 1. to be always a positive person, 2. i'm always trying to be kind, because i don't like to insult people ... i think that i can have a lot of fun.
What do you think?

if you'd like to do that, why not? but a first you have to know that you'll have only a few viewers, and that you'll build them in time, depending on how and with what your vids are, but that's logic XDD
and don't care about the rude people, yeah everyone has haters and likers. boohoo, who cares about the haters when you have people that say 'you were great, keep up the good work!'

once again, don't you worry about the haters! if you ever worry, just think that even the most known people can't only have people to like them.. take any celebrity, you'll find 1 hater at each! don't let these things break you down, ever

i guess is a good idea^^ maybe people even become fans of your channel and then you will have many visits everyday and even earn money with that^^ other day i just saw a girl that created a channel about good creams to put in our face, make up that is good or not, masks good to our hair. she tries that in herself and show to people and she has a lot of fans and me also i like her advises^^ create a fun channel and you will see many people will like it^^ when you create let me know and i will visit it and like it ahah

I think I agree with your boyfriend on this one. I don't really think it is a good idea. The more you want to share to the world, I think the more the world would want to intrude on yours. And like what your boyfriend said, there are a lot of rude people out there. Specially on line.
Just let this be a caution. Because if you're still decided, I'm sure I wouldn't be able to stop you. Just be wary, and try not to share too much. Keep a little to yourself.
