Yesterday was a terrible day weather wise. I saw the mailman go by so i get my umbrella & sat out to the mailbox. I had books from church to give to my neighbors & one of my neighbors was sick so i get her mail for her & carry it & the book to her, drop the other book off in my other neighbor's mailbox. Couldn't wait to get back in the house. I was cold & wet. As soon as i got in i realized i hadn't got my own mail, lol. Don't u think that qualifies me as a dingbat.

Hello dear antique lady.
You are now next on my list of friends to answer topics too :D.
I don't believe you are anything but a normal human being, bound to make some mistakes, especially if this is dictated by your self conservation due to bad weather :P This could have happened to any of us, regardless of age.
The weather here in Bucharest Romania is pretty bad as well - rain, negative temperatures, brrr.

No absolutely does not qualify you as a dingbat, it mearly means you are obviously a very good person and know how to put the needs of other people ahead of your own.
You're okay we need more of your kind and far less dingbats.
Have a Great Day my dear friend.

Nope, jo! That qualifies you as a person that´s not THAT young anymore (nowadays I say I can´t chew gum and mount stairs at the same time) and that you are sweet as to help your neighbors.
The last qualification is much more important than the first though. Everyone reaches old age but not all do it as nicely as you do.
I´m happy to have you as my friend!

The more I think about those words, the more I think I meant to say something and you read another. It seems you felt hurt by something that was meant to show you just how beautiful you were and how many things you had. Sorry if I hurt you then. I did not mean to.

Sometimes when we're preoccupied, we get to do silly things or we tend to forget things that we're supposed to do. You're not really a dingbat, unless this happens to you all the time.
Thanks for sharing this anyway and have a nice day!

Nope that doesn't qualify you to be a dingbat. Now going to get the mail then standing in front of the mailbox wondering what your doing there would..but you just had alot on your mind like getting that book to a neighbor and getting someone else's mail for them. Plus you were cold and wet..and that to made you wanna hurry home.

Ta da..Ha..Ha..Ho..Ho! It qualifies you as getting closer to "old age"...the time in our lives, when we must stop multi-tasking...AND SINGLE FOCUS! Just teasing you! Either that...or before we go out the door, we make a list, but if you are like me, you would forget to take the pen, to mark the things off, that you have done...so you're lost again! At least you remembered your umbrella!
AND...at least it was rain...not that white stuff that doesn't dissipate, and has to be removed with a shovel!
Just so all you myLotters know...JO has a birthday coming up soon! LUV & HUGZ!

Gee...willackers (how long has it been since you heard that expression)here I thought I was being NICE and tiptoeing around that topic that we both want to avoid..OLD AGE! Heck, we're just sneaking up on it...quietly!
So you are telling me that you still haven't had any snow...What UP? DID YOU send it all up to me....just to keep me busy..and out of TROUBLE...AND if that is your plan, please send me something, that is a little less work, and also, make it that light, fluffy stuff...not the heavy, wet stuff we are getting. You have a spectacular day, dear one...off to work soon, and I hate travelling on my bike in the dark. Eerie!!! LUV & HUGZ!

I am so glad to hear that you did that because I do things like that all the time! I will look for the cookies in the fridge and the milk in the pantry. My friend told me that it is part of the symptoms of menopause but I don’t believe that to be true because I’ve been somewhat ‘distracted’ for a long time now! Don’t worry ANTIQUELADY if you’re a dingbat I am one too!

Are you kidding not at all. You were thinking about getting to your neighbors to deliver the books and mail. We have all done something like that before. Its just your mind being preoccupied with other things. I remember about 5 years ago in my old house I went to put a cup of tea in the microwave instead I opened the kitchen cabinet to put my cup of tea in it. LOL LOL LOL My mind was on other things and I just wasn't thinking.

hi antiquelady welcome t o the league, if you are so am i
as I have done similar things. I remember not stopping to check the weather or grab a umbrella . the clouds were scattered and my son said, better get your umbrella. I said no I will be back in an hour.So I walked down to Larwin Square, the wind was picking up. I bought a few groceries and started out across the square and all of a sudden whosh, the whole heavens broke out so I was closest to the donut shop so bought a huge cup of coffee and she cut the price in two, then trudged back to the store to buy oh of course, an UMBRELLA WHAT ELSE/then tired and wet
I finally undingbatted and called a cab.Next time I started out with
the Umbrella.

Hi Jo! You are NOT a dingbat, you just had a lot on your mind. I will tell you that I am a dingbat. You will never believe what I did this afternoon. Me and my oldest son were enjoying a day together, going shopping, having lunch, driving around, etc. Well I wanted to stop at Ross' and my son decided he had it with my shopping, so he opted to sit in the car. I shut the car off, however, left the keys so he could play the radio. Well about 20 minutes when I came out to start the car, it wouldn't start. Nick felt bad because he thought he drained the battery. I told him that was probably not the case, as the radio still came on, so all I could think of was the starter. Nice big expense right before Christmas! I was almost at the panic stage, when I decided, lets just sit here for a bit, just in case it was the battery. So here we sit for about 15 minutes, when I figured, there is no way possible it could be the battery, and just has the be the starter. So I call up AAA to have me towed to the mechanic shop. Well AAA was very busy and they said it would be about 45 minutes. So we sit another 20 minutes or so and Nick says, just for the heck of it try the car again...still nothing. So I get mad at take the keys out of the ignition, when low and behold..the car is in DRIVE!! OMG!! How stupid am I!! Of course it didn't help that my son starts laughing uncontrollably at me!! Now....who is the dingbat??? What a day!!
