The Internet has brought some good things and not so good things. However, I think that there are two really positive things. The ability to share information and to access said information. Also to interact with and talk with people that we might have never met had it not been for the Internet. Some of them becoming very good friends. What do you think is the most positive thing that has come out of the Internet?

Yea it is good to have such a heavenly thing in this earth. If someone ask me about the greatest thing in earth than I will definitely answered that it is internet. There is no limit of positiveness of internet. You can do lots of things in internet, in short you can share, gather, store, organize, monitor, follow, ask, watch, listen, write, do business, fun, knowledge, learn, earn, and thousands of things can do with the help of internet. I have no other words to complement the greatest invention of human life.

When used right, the Internet can be a good thing. A very good thing indeed. Something that is going to be used for only positive things. There are numerous things, it is hard to begin where everything goes right. It is sad when people get fixated on everything that goes wrong.

Anyway, before I got distracted and accidentally hit post before I was ready, the Internet's scope really cannot be overstated. Thank you for your response. It is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

Firstly, I agree with what you have said about the internet. In my opinion, the most positive thing to come out of the internet is the wealth of excellent information, including timely access to current events. Have a great day~

The timely access to current events is good. You might not hear about something until you get home on the news or read it in the newspaper the next day in another era. However, with the Internet, it can be put up in a matter of moments, on a website like Yahoo. Thank you for your response. It is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

I concur. I wish I would have had the net when I was in school but they had not invented it yet. It really could have saved me some time and I would have had more time for more enjoyable persuits.

Indeed there is a lot of information that might have been lost or at least not acknowledged. The thing is about the Internet is that anything can be put up there. Well that could also be a bad thing, but if it is factual, then it is a good thing. The communication is good, as we are going to be able to have fun interacting with people and also interactions with people on a professional level are obvious even as much as a personal level. Thank you for your response. It is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

Just going to add this as well Sometimes in the field of Crime Investigations " Rumors" are used to help assess the environment and to get a clearer picture of what was going on whether if the rumor is true or not. That is how a lot of the internet is as well. People will post articles or post documentary items. We rely on those items for study and enjoyment then. I never take just one site serious I always cross reference with either an outside source such as a book or a government site if possible. The Internet is forever growing, suggestions have to be made to the sites and creators of sites so they can improve the functions and the quality of work though as we all live busy lives.

I agree with you both but the one "BIG" question is how do the software developers write software that is "theft/hijack" safe that the average person can use and afford? The seems to becoming an increasing problem judging from what I see on the news. and other media. The question is how do we keep the net informative and still safe from unwanted eyes when private and personal important information is transmitted?

The internet is both a "BLESSING" and a "CURSE". In the early days of the net it was great researching a subject and not having to worry about getting "hacked" or some other malicious cyber activity or unwanted commercials (AKA "SPAM"). Enter our current technological state of affairs where anyone, everyone can get information about anything or anyone. What's worse assume another person's idenity to use however they want, legaly or illegaly. Unfortunately lawbreakers and those out for a fast buck and do not care who they hurt also know how use today's technology too and in most creative ways. The good side of the net is its potential for information. The world is a very small place due to the internet and one can exchange thoughts and ideas anywhere in the world in just a matter of seconds and minutes at the most. Once again this too is a double edged sword. What's the most positive thing about the internet? I think the jury is still out on this one and only time and the future has the answer. What do you think?

I agree with you, the information and the openness is the best thing about it for sure! And I also love how easy it has become for people all over the world to make some extra pocket money online, that is really wonderful.

I completely agree with both of you about the extra $$$'s. I'm retired and I live in a foreign country where they are very strict about foreigners working and taking local poeople's jobs. Working on line helps improve my monthly income without breaking any laws or stepping on anyone's toes so to speak. True, it isn't much but every little bit helps; plus it is fun too.

I think that we can't live without internet at all. People right now are using internet for everything - information, reading, watching movies, news, chat. I think that internet is useful for two things: 1. We can communicate with typing, hearing and seeing the others. 2. We can learn a lot of things using internet, because of the sharing, as you said. I feel blessed to live these days, when nearly everything is possible.
