A Close Shave

I have recently spent some time being prodded and probed by members of the medical professions. One of the little tricks that they put me through was to wire me up to an electro cardiograph machine and make me walk along a treadmill/rolling road on a day when it was -5C outside and told to imagine that I was on a beach. I had eight wires attached to my chest and hirsute chap that I am they had to shave some pretty little squares off my torso to attach the wires. Apart from thinking that for some men this must be the fulfilment of a fantasy - bossy women shaving you and then making you work - I also considered the problem of hair removal. Women are very used to shaving off body hair, especially their legs and we chaps often throw a razor around our faces; but just what is the best way to remove chest hair? Any ideas?

I think it is a very strange idea to remove chest hair! The hair that most women don't like is hair on the back--like a furry animal! I would say that if you wanted to remove chest hair and want a memorable experience, wax it!

The best way I can imagine moving any hair would be to go to a spa and wax it off.

The person I know who does it uses a razor, but you could probably use a depilatory cream, too, and then rinse the hairs off in the shower after the appropriate length of time. Just don't leave them for the boss to clean up. ;-)

You really want to remove chest hair when it's a turn-on for most woman? :P A stray hair or two can be got out of the way with tweezing...but if it's a whole load of chest hair, waxing is the best. Yeah, yeah, I read what the earlier responses said about waxing...but if it's done regularly, it's not as painful.

Simple solution...shaving...or using a hair removing cream (which I need to warn you...smells horrible!)

I am afraid that it's not about turning anybody on. I have to have ecg monitoring and for that I need my chest to be hairless in certain places. I only intend to do it the once!!

hi pikefish oh wow they made you work for the stress test. when Ihad one done to be sure it was safe for me to have surgery because I have one leg in a shoe with heavy brace they gave me this gosh awful medication to make the heart race like it would when one does the treadmill test and oh my G I was so sick to my stomach from that stuff but it was gone as soon as all the medication went in. I passed the stress test. for chest hair removal try Nair as its gentle and does remove the hair, I used to use it on my legs and never broke out from it and my skin is sensetive and allergic to so many things.I was lethal with a razor as always had cuts on my legs so went to nair instead.I really would just use nair as it does not cut one,.lol lol.My husband used to tease about my cuts on my legs as I told him I got them from going on a walk through stickery thistles with my mom. he did not believe me for a moment. He was just my fiance at that time.He was a teaser and was all his life , and he kept me in really good humor too.

Gosh that sounds like a torture chamber you were in. The treadmill was hard work I must say. Nothing personal but I won't ask you to shave my chest!! LOL.

Hello pikey. Say NO to wax for starters :D Now that you have eliminated THAT threat, a shave with your regular shaving blade should do the trick. I would recommend doing it in the bathroom, after soaking your chest in some warm water. Using a shaving foam or gel could also help. Keep in mind that this is long hair, so it is bound to take quite a while - i would advise against rushing this process, if you wish less wounds and a close shave.

The nurse managed to cut me when she shaved me. But I suspect that shaving is the best solution.

Maybe you can try a hair removal cream? That's what I use for my armpits (because I always ended up getting cuts when using a razor), and it works really well. The cream I use is only for armpits and legs though, but I'm sure there are some other types that are for other areas of the body. I hope that helps, take care!

I see the need to remove it in this situation. But other than that, why remove it? While I prefer a clean shaven face, I have no problem with chest hair on my hubby. The exception for me would be back and shoulders. There is electrolysis, and laser. Both of which are expensive. I have seen Nair for Men product.I can imagine Eww the smell, YUCK! Just my opinion here, I say leave it alone!

I shall except that last time they cut me and so I hoped to avoid when I have the test again in 6 weeks time.

Just lather up and a shave it. Although chest hair is more coarse its best to use an electric razor, if you have one and trim it down so it can be shaved. I've been where you are and it hurts more to have those leeds pulled off of bare skin that it does hair. I guess you could reserve some spots on your chest for the medical community, of course then you'd look like Steve Carrell in the 40 Year Old Virgin.

Hi P1key, I just had this picture of you flashing in my mind with your shorts on running on tread mill while the nurses standing back with a smile on their faces, which beach did you imagined? its all for the good of your health and the best thing to remove hairs from your chest, not that I've ever removed hair from my chest, lol! is waxing, that will hurt like mad but its worth it, thank goodness I never had to use any of them things, don't have any hairy legs either, lol! hugs. P1kie... Do a search on manscaping & you should find any information you need. Manscaping is all the rage with the younger generation here in the US. You do realize your chest will be rough & stubbly much like a beard don't you??? I think I would stick with the little squares shaved into my chest as that would only be small areas that are rough & stubbly & they will grow back out & fill in fairly quick.
@p1kef1sh (45681)
2 Dec 10
Manscaping? I shall have to look it up LadyM. The thing is that I shall have another treadmill test in 6 weeks time and they managed to cut me last time. I rather hoped that I might save them the effort!

Hello, Pikey. Hope all is well with you. The best way to shave is to do it in the shower, when the water has run for a few minutes, because the steam will soften the hairs and make it easier to shave. If you're a sensitive little flower - skin wise I mean - hair removal cream may irritate the skin. I'm not used to hairy chests. My husband has about six on one side and ten on the other, which makes him walk with a lop-sided gait.

Unfortunately all is not well with me healthwise Sandra. But I'm getting there. LOL at hubby.
