But I can tell you that you should decide first what kind of method you will choose and which one is better for your model that you want to modeling. Maybe mesh modeling will be better than solid modeling on some models, on other you will easier work with solid. So concept is very important when you modeling.

It depends on the software that you are using or you want to use. I prefer Maya so find a tutorial of maya online.
