I never heard of any such restriction in the United States. Now there are building codes that limit the number of people that can be in a business building, and I can see that a residential building's owner would frown on having too many people living in his small place. Now if the place is owned by you, I would have to research, and I'm not too sure where I can find such information. Building codes for residential buildings maybe.

Well for me I don't think the government should tell how many people will live in one household. But if in case a country is over populated the government should intervene to cease or stop its growing numbers because the government cannot support further increase of population.
