I always answer to a phone call with strange number when I was at my office. Because I using my phone for contact from my office to other customers.Of course, there are some call which annoy me. But I can endure that. But at night, I rarely answer a strange phone call, I think it's scam, I only answer when they call me 2 or 3 times. I know, someone who never answer a strange phone. How about you? DO you answer to a strange phone call? Do you annoy when they call you at night?

I think my answer will be a no. I seldom pick up a strange number as they may be person getting your number out of nowhere and calling you out of joke...However, if he or she send a message to me, then I will call him or her back...Nevertheless, calling me at night is something that is acceptable but I dislike to some extent. If it is for work purposes, it is okay but else is not tolerated...Nice day!

Yes,I answer strange calls even they call me at night. I have a lot of friends who are calling me from another cell phone if they have a problem and they'r cell goes low on battery and so. I answer because I want to help if something is wrong. Sometimes my good friends are calling me for just asking me for an advice. Because of that, I want to don't let them down.

No, if I don't know the number I'll let my voice mail pick it up. If they want to leave a message then I'll answer. Most cell phone numbers have been re-used so sometimes I'll get a call for somebody else. If that happens I'll call the person back and let them know they have the wrong number. I usually turn the vibrate feature on my phone at night so I won't be woken up with a strange phone call.

Not really. It depends on my mood though. If the same number calls persistently though and I'm unsure who they are, I might answer it just to find out why they are calling and get them to not call anymore. But usually I'll just ignore it.. A lot of calls that my house receives are for other people in the household.. So, if I answered every call I'd have to end up jotting down messages and being my house's receptionist. I'd rather let the voicemail take care of that, that's why it's there!

In your case my friend it's necessary that you should do it and answer the phone because it might be a customer. In my case I don't answer unknown calls. If the number is not identified then I don't answer it at all and if it's really important then that person has to send me a message before making a call so that I can answer his or her call.

Thanks for this comments. Yes, I think I am doing right thing. Your way to answer an unknown calls is good, so that you don't miss any important phone call. You know, sometimes I answer a unknown phone, the people call me give me a ton of crude sentence, then they said that they call to wrong number. what a mess!

Since it will charge me even if I pick up a phone call from my cellphone, so today I seldom will answer a strange number. I found that most of the strange numbers are called by the sales or insurance people and this is quite annoying. Now I don't hang up the strange calls, but just let my cellphone keeps ringing by I won't pick up the call. So the caller may think this number doesn't work and they will give up bothering me.
I love China

That's the beauty of having caller ID on your telephone. I look to see who is calling first before I pick up the phone. If it's not a number I'm familiar with I let it ring and most of the time the people will leave a message on our answering machine. Then if it is someone we know we'll pick up when they are leaving their message. Otherwise we just ignore the phone since we do get a lot of telemarkers and other non important calls. And yes, it is very annoying when the phone rings in the middle of the night when everyone is sleeping.

Well, It is very good when your phone service has answering machine. In my country, there are not. They just provide us the phone filter, of course, you should pay money for use this service. Most of us don't use this services because it's expensive. I sometimes turn off the phone at night to avoid income call at that time!

I don't like to answer calls when i don't who they are from. If i am unsure about a caller, iusually let my answering machine take the call instead. if it turns out to be a call I should've taken, I will call them back.

I do answer all of the calls. Every call to me is very important.
I just want to grab every opportunity which might help me to grow the business.
I have read an article about a survey in Reader Digest magazine .
If the incoming call is important to you, it will be once only.
If the incoming call is important to the person who is calling you, he will call you many times until he reach you.
ha! ha! ha! Strange of Not Strange, whenever there is a call, you must answer it.
You can answer the call by answering machine to assume you are not available.

Dear littleyuu!
I am using Nokia N70 and use that software. It's call Advance Call Manager. It's can using answering machine but the caller will lost money if we use it. We can custom the voice of answering machine too.
Dear aeiou78!
In my country, there is no service like that. But the phone providers will create a filter of income call for you if you use and of course, you must pay for that service. That's also good way to avoid strange number or some of number!

It is a good idea you mentioned about answering the call by answering machine, but I wonder if a mobile phone can b equiped with that kind of "machine". Is there any software which can be installed on cell phone to act like that?

For most of the time, I do not pick up the phones from strange numbers, because when person who I know want to call me, he or she will be sure to call again. But sometimes, I just answer the call without thinking anything more. It is not the same way for me.

Yes I do. You will never know who's on the other side if you don't. You can always put it down or better yet block the number if it seems a scam.

It really depends, I will answer the unknown number if I am expecting a call, and most of the time it is the person I was expecting. If I'm not expecting a call from an unknown number, chances are I won't answer it the first time. If they call me back in a few minutes, then I will answer because it clearly is meant for me.

I always pick up my phone, even if I don't recognze the number. It's the polite thing to do. Plus, you never know who might be calling. But, for example, my sister never answers the phone if she doesn't recognize the number. IT often results in her missing important calls.

Yes I still answer numbers even at night! It may be that important though. Even though the number is not registered in my phonebook I still answer it. There is nothing wrong answering phone calls. I just hang up if the callers are rude or people that I do not really know.

Yes, I am away from my family so every time someone calls using an unfamiliar number to me, I always answer them. And even if I missed, I will call the number to know who the caller is. But one time, there was this incident that a guy called me in the middle of the night... oh well, just asking my name and where I am located. The following night, he called again using different number. And before I realized, he already gave my number to some of his friends who tried to bothered me even late hours. I was so annoyed that when I got the chance, I called them one by one.. every minute that I can : ) I called them for like three days straight so that they would feel how it feels to be bothered even if you have something important to do. They got really mad and stopped calling : )

I often hesitate answering unknown numbers. Still, It depends on the situation. If it's a cellphone number I don't answer it right away. Sometimes, I wait if the person calling would text. I believe if the matter's really important, they would at least send me a message. If i am expecting an important call like Job interviews and applications I keep my phone open at all times same thing if I'm seeing an overseas call i answer it immediately, cause there's no way that's a hoax.
