I'm Afraid I Swore At Sepp Blatter - He's CORRUPT!

To say I'm gutted that England didn't win the World Cup 2018 bid and that the US or Australia didn't win the 2022 bid is an understatement. I watched the TV screen in amazement that we didn't even get through the first round.
When Sepp "Brown Envelope Man" Blatter took out the card with RUSSIA emblazoned on it out of the white, sealed envelope I shouted out "Blatter, you corrupt B*stard!" and I would've done so if I'd been in the audience watching this poor excuse for a human being.
I know the Panaroma programme didn't help airing corruption within FIFA (no surprises there) but giving it to RUSSIA? I mean, President Putin wasn't even there at the ceremony so what does that tell you?
He knew in advance!
I reckon we should stage a World Cup in 2018 for all those countries that don't manage to qualify, including England, hopefully!!!

i'm a huge football fan. i didn't watch the presentation ceremony or anything related to the biddings. i read about it this morning in the newspaper. but i'm happy that it went to Russia and Qatar respectively for the 2013 and 2022 editions of the mega event. i feel that first of all every country that has the infrastructure to host the World Cup should get a chance to host it. it shouldn't be circulated just among a few (or say several) countries. in between other countires may develop infrastructures too and opportunity should be given to them also.
Mexico(1970, 1986), France (1938, 1998), Italy (1934, 1990) and Germany (1974 as West Germany, 2006) have hosted it twice and Brazil (1950) will follow suit with the 2014 edition. other host countries were Uruguay (1930), Switzerland (1954), Sweden (1958), Chile (19620, England (1966), Argentina (1978), Spain (1982), USA (1994), Korea-Japan (2002) and South Africa (2010).
if u see the pattern the tournament has been staged either in Europe or on the other side of the Atlantic in the Americas except in 2002 and 2010. football is a global sport so why ignore the others if they have the infrastructure? maybe in the early years it was mostly a European or Latin American game so it fluctuated between the two worlds. but it's the 21st century and everyone can see how popular the game is and the impact it has made. so give opportunities to those countries also and encourage them. first times for Russia and Qatar and that's such a good news. i'm happy they got it instead of England or Japan-Korea or USA who all made bids. maybe next time it should go down under to Australia/New Zealand, or Portugal or Holland/Belgium or some other new country. it should be circulated in such a way that everyone gets a chance first and then the repeats. that's a fair game like everyone's wants fair play.

If you notice the likes of Germany (or West Germany, whatever) have hosted the World Cup finals TWICE ALREADY, so have FRANCE. Why? Why has England - the "motherland of soccer" as Sepp Blatter himself said, only hosted it the once? It doesn't make any sense to me whatsoever. We should've had it in 2018 and Russia should've had it the next time it came to Europe. We now have to wait another 30 years or so, probably longer, before we can bid for it again.
The tournament stinks and I, for one, will not watch the finals and I hope England don't qualify and hold a little tournament of their own. More would go to that than to visit Russia, there is no doubt in my mind about that.
You have only got to look at the disastrous World Cup in South Africa this year to realise that the organisers don't have a clue as to what other nations want from it i.e. those daft vuvuzelas that spoilt the enjoyment of millions. I predict there won't even be a World Cup in - say 20 years' time as nations will pull out. Why play football in Qatar in 50 degree heat? Why?

Qatar moving the finals to January or February ain't gonna work either, splitting seasons up for most European nations in the club leagues.
Hopefully, England won't qualify for that one, or the Russian one either.
Brazil, fair enough but not those two.

yeah, that's what i said - football was mostly a European or Latin American game before so some of them hosted twice. but now it's different and changes have to be brought in with time. u cannot point out this year's tournament singly because it failed to live upto its expectations. there were other such tournaments too. e.g., 1934 (Italy) - it was heavily influenced by the fascist regime of Mussolini and it was like Italy won it forcefully bullying around with the other participants; 1990 (Italy) - it was and still is considered the most boring tournament so far with a very low strike rate. so, u can't expect every tournament to be similarly enthralling or exciting.
u said why play in 50 degrees heat. what about peole living in those part of the world - how would they be playing? i agree it'll be hard for European players and others who come from cooler places. but do u expect those players to play only at venues of your choice? what about their choice? this is where the word 'FAIR' and 'EQUALITY' comes in. think about it. people are living in those heat their whole lives and they are playing there too. let's go play there and see. let's feel their experience. afterall this world is about all the races, peoples, places, climates. better come to terms with it sooner than later.

I had no idea that we were bidding for the 2022 world cup until yesterday. I was not surprised this morning when I heard that it had gone to Qatar was it? I would have been very surprised if we had got it as we are pretty crap at the game and it is not a major football code here.

Yes, it did go to Qatar, which is a nation even smaller than Wales, apparently. Over 50 degrees C..I think it's C lol. Anyway, it's really, REALLY hot over there.
At least the England bowlers are doing a job in the Ashes! Whoopee! Gotta get that Mr Cricket out though, some player he is.

Yep, we suck at cricket too now it seems!
Australia 3/52 right now. Better than the 3/2 that we were earlier!
I know Qatar pretty well in terms of sport as I watch motorbike racing from there every year.

I tell you something, not only was I chuffed at the England score (what was it at the close of play?) I couldn't help be a little envious of the WEATHER! Absolutely gorgeous and it's not gorgeous here, I can tell you now. Currently snowing (again) and it's -2 degrees C, up from -11 last night!

Janey1966,
I cannot say but feel disappointed at the FIFA World Cup tournament bidding and could not say further about the president.
Though it is shocking that England was knocked out for the bid to host the tournament in 2018 but I think you are just equally blown off with his later announcement that Qatar will be hosting for 2022. Talking about out of this world incidents but I think this has got to be the one of the century.
So, it will probably be some time, after 2026 before England would have a chance of seeing the tournament on their soil.
Have a nice day.
P.S.
I am really still recovering from this shocking award(s).

England is the home of football (soccer) and we have only held the tournament once, way back in 1966 of course when we won it.
We must be really hated by other countries, that's all I can say.
Not a very pleasant situation to be in. Perhaps they are jealous of our Premier League, who knows?
Wasn't impressed with Arshavin clapping away with his Russian friends. He sodding well plays in England and wouldn't get fancy wages in his country, that's for sure.
