This was my friends question after she had a positive result in her pregnancy test. I dont know if pregnancy tests are really accurate cause my friend doesnt seem to believe it. She has swollen chest, she feels cramps, and she also feel like vomiting. So what do you think guys? Do you think she's really pregnant?

Hi,
There are so many medical methods to do the test and immediately detect whether she is pregnant or not. The strip method is the cheap and best and we can get the immediate result also. Still having doubts on the same, you can always approach a gynecologist and confirm from the detailed check up. The symptoms mentioned dare the positive result of pregnancy. If all are confirmed, she must be pregnant. If the doubt is yes, or no, better to have a check up because if she is really pregnant, the pregnancy period medication to be followed which is required to maintain the health problems of the mother and the foetus inside the womb. So advise here not to ignore the time and she really needed medial treatment.
Thank-s

Hi p3ks626, to make pregnancy test to be more accurate, tell your friend to take urine pregnancy test using her first morning urine. and tell here not to drink excessive water before bedtime so as not to dilute the urine making Human Chorionic Gonadotropic (hCG) not as detectable. presence of hcg is indication that your friend is pregnant.

My friend did that, she also took her morning urine for the test and I also saw the kit since I was with her. She's really worried these days for so many reasons I think only a few women would understand.
She and her husband have been waiting to have a baby for more than a year. They also thought that this year was going to end without having a baby so they already had their minds set that there will be no baby this year. It was really shocking for them to find out that the pregnancy test result was positive. They couldnt believe their eyes seeing two lines.
What concerns them now is that maybe the pregnancy test just say positive and if they go to the doctor there isnt anything inside her womb. They dont want to have high hopes even though they already had the positive result.
Are all pregnancy tests kit accurate?

I think that your friend's symptoms sound very much like early pregnancy. In addition she has had a positive pregnancy test which means she pregnant because these days home pregnancy tests are really accurate. Sometimes a lady can take a pregnancy test too soon and get a negative result so that could be false. I haven't ever heard of a false positive pregnancy result. Your friend might not want to believe she is pregnant. In a week or two she will probably realize that she is expecting a baby. Some ladies take two or as many as five pregnancy tests if they can't believe it. Having that first scan the lady can be in no doubt.

I told her the same thing. If she is really in doubt then she should just take more and more pregnancy test until she is fully convinced of her condition. And the doctor also said that the pregnancy test is really accurate and there could be complication if she is having a molar pregnancy which the doctor said she doesnt have.

LOL, it is almost a presumption that we are definitely pregnant after a positive testing, but I have heard so many doctor programs state that the shelf life of the testing kits lessen the effects and sometimes they can give false positive.
With those types of symptoms it is probable, has had lack of menstruation cycle as well. As sometimes as women, especially if we are not planning to have children the stress causes all the above mentioned symptoms. Best to confirm with a physicians pregnancy test and check up to confirm.

I have heard about all those false positive results but it could be for some reasons like illness or medication and my friend dont have any. She and her husband have been trying for more than a year and now that they had a positive result, they cant be sure of it. Its really making them anxious.

She's 100% pregnant dear and if she couldn't believe that, she can always visit the doctor. EPT or early pregnancy test are now accurate although the accuracy is just 90% but more or less when it says positive, you really are positive! And with the symptoms that your friend is having, she really is pregnant!
If she can't accept it, I just wish I can offer myself! Coz i really want to get pregnant and my period arrived last December 1st!

Hi! Wow, she looks like pregnant. LOL. Have she tried another type or brand of pregnancy test? Or better yet and the best thing to do is to visit a doctor and check if she really is pregnant. But if things are getting into like that, she probably is pregnant. :)

Hi! Sine I made this discussion a few days ago then most of things that people replied here was already done by her yesterday and this was her result. She went to the doctor and the doctor didnt give her another test. She's just going to have an ultrasound by next week to determine a heartbeat. The doctor said its too early to detect a heartbeat since she is only 6 weeks pregnant.

Home pregnancy test kits are mostly accurate. The symptoms that she's having are very close to the symptoms that she's really pregnant. If she still doesn't believe that she's pregnant, she'd better see her OB-Gyne.

As I said in the previous posts, she is scared of going to the doctor cause the doctor might say she's not pregnant and its just a false alarm. She doesnt want that you see. Even though she still cant believe it. Its really complicated what she's going through right now.

Hi p3ks626 Im reading all the posts and to solve this, you can do a reverse pschology to your friend. Tell her that her pregnancy test is not accurate, and she is not pregnant. and you can confirm it to her by going to a doctor. You said shes afraid to go to the doctor because she might get disappointed. She can have the courage to go to the doctor to confirm that she is not pregnant. let me know if it works. Have a nice day.

I think she is seriously pregnant. She sounds like my daughter who walked around the house holding the test results in her hand in shock. Not believing that this could happen to her. LOL LOL LOL! She needs to call her doctor for an appointment to verify the results of the pregnancy test. He will then tell her how many weeks she is and when approximately the baby is due. Good luck to your friend.

I also laughed at her knowing that her reaction was like that. but I understand why she feels like that cause she and her husband have been trying to conceive for more than a year now and it came this time unexpectedly. I think she's going to take another test 2 weeks from now and after that go to the doctor.

Since the pregnancy test shows positive and she seems
has the symptoms of getting pregnant,it is best for her
to direct to gynae to confirm her pregnancy.
From my own experience, I only confirm on my pregnancy when it
was already hit the 3rd month.
I did not know that I really pregnant until I shows some
symptoms of dislike those fried food smell. I did feel like
vomitting everytime when I smelt it.
At last, I rushed to gynae to confirm and it was BINGO..I was
pregnant for 3 months.
I was happy and nervous at the same time. I was happy because I was going
to be a mother and I was nervous because I was not sure whether I was
ready to be a mother or not.

Hi there! Last month, I visited my OBGyne to further check my condition if im pregnant or what. I am 8 days delayed with my monthly period and this never usually happened to me because I have a regular menstruation pattern. I wanted to know that early if im pregnant or what for me to take the necessary supplements right away and avoid things that are bad for pregnant woman. Early in the morning, using my pregnancy test kit, I test my urine with the kit and it showed a positive result. The next day, I went to my OBGyne to confirm my condition. After showing the pregnancy test kit result to her, she never do more tests to me. She confirmed right away that im positive, and she's right. I am now 2 months on the way. What your friend felt right now are all symptoms of pregnancy, but its still best if she could go to the doctor so as to nourish her baby right away if she's really positive. Have a nice day!

I guess the best thing to do is have her checked by the doctor. Or probably she can buy different kinds of pregnancy kits and if it still yields positive, then congratulations. The signs and symptoms you said are just probable signs of pregnancy they are not definite and may vary from person to person.

You are right! She also feels very differently cause there are many signs and symptoms found in the internet and among all those signs and symptoms, she only has three and that's what I mentioned. So she isnt sure and still in shock right now.

Usually, a pregnancy test is already enough. And all the changes that she is feeling just reinforces the test result. Yet, human nature within us still doesn't believe until someone of authority would confirm it. Like a doctor. Which isn't really necessary, but good for assurance.
Goodluck to your friend.

I don't rely too much on pregnancy test.Last time I got positive result but after several days I had my period. It is better to see a doctor to confirm if she is pregnant or not.

Well it really leads you to one thing, go to a doctor for a check up. You're right about pregnancy test, some are really not accurate.

I think you're friend is really pregnant. because in this techie world, pregnancy test seems to be very accurate. but you're friend should be very sure about what she feels and actually if she think she is, she really needs to consult the doctor the soonest for her to be able to take necessary medications that will help her and her child healthy.

Sometimes you can get a false positive pregnancy test and vise versa. But, it sounds like she has the symptoms. I actually took 7 pregnancy tests when I got pregnant with my daughter 2 digital at home tests, 4 regular tests and 1 test at the clinc I went to. I didn't have any signs of pregnancy except being late on my period. Even after all those tests I didn't believe it until I had my ultra sound. I possibly did not believe it because I wasn't ready at the time to be a parent or maybe it was just a really big shock to me. I'm not sure, but the only way to bring reassurance to myself was the ultrasound.
