Dress stitched or readymade?

shirts - stitched shirts are more comortable, well fitting
India

Friends as I have said in another discussion, 7th December is our marriage anniversary, I have bought a sari for my wife, from the same shop I bought pure cotton cloth for my shirt and pant, have given it for stitching in the tailoring shop in my shop. The stitching charges for a shirt is 120 rupees and for pant it is 210 rupees, this means my shirt and pant will cost about 1500 rupees, pure cotton is costlier than polyester dress material; readymade pant and shirt of polyester will cost almost half. I don’t prefer polystyrene dress material nor readymade dresses, because readymade dresses don’t fit me well, they are made for average build persons, I need good fitting dresses, more over cotton is cool. So what about you, you go for polystyrene, cotton or blended material for dresses? You prefer ‘stitched to order’ or ready-made? Please share. Thank you so much in advance. Professor ‘Bhuwan’. . Cheers have a lucky day ahead.

hi professor here in the US made to order can be very expensive but they will fit but since I do not have a large budget I have to settle fro large person 3x but I also buy mainly cotton or a cotton/polyester blend with cotton being the largest part of the fabric.Cotton feels so good on your body has its cooler in the summer an warmer in the winter time. While synthetic fabrics can feel clammy against the body in the cold weather and sticky against your skin in hot weather.Pure cotton usually 'washes well too.

I have now started opting for ready dresses. And the material varies. I have no particular selection. For daily office use it is usually cottons or blended materials. Sometimes I do get clothes stitched from the tailor though.

as we have no weavers here I buy ready made clothes and since they are mostly made from a differnt country now most dont fit as good as they used to when they were madehere in the USA with our kinds of measurments. I like cotton clothes too as they are cool. in the sumer With shoes and clothes made else where I dont hink the measurement come out right with the different measurement from inches to like liters or liters

Most of my clothes were ready made but still I am open to stitch to order. If I find clothes in internet and magazine that I want sometimes I go for stitch to order. I prefer clothes that 100% cotton it’s more convenient to wear.

I prefer Ready Made clothings and i like Pure Cotton.. Derby is one of the best to provide pure cotton with a variety of collections and Europa Discount store is also very good in giving very pure cotton shirts and they give some discounts too ... For me i will get a shirt in the range of 800 to 900 in Derby.. For trousers i might take Allen Solly or Peter England or Derby itself.. It depends upon the price and i may go from 1000-1300

Hi professor. I am like you I like cotton better then polyester. I prefer to make my own clothing because it fits better. When your short it is hard to find clothing that fits like it should. Either the pants are too long or too short so I would prefer to make my own. The only problem with that is my sewing machines are broke down and I don't know how fix them. Have a great day my friend. I like your avatar.

Hi , Actually One year ago I never go for ready-made dresses because it never fit to me ,Because I want my dress to be always fit .But now a days I changed to ready-made dress because now I can see many ready-made dresses fit to me and One more reason for my change is varieties. In ready made dresses we have large number of varieties where as in bit material we don't get so many varieties and my suggestion for you is cotton pants and shirts are good when you buy them in ready-made shop because stitching may not be look nice when compared to ready-made dresses as far as cotton is considered.

dear professor, i used to wear "made to order" (stitched) dresses and uniforms, maybe 15 years ago. my mother is a very good dressmaker. but now she is old and her eyesight is not much to depend on, so she sometimes makes simple things with the sewing machine.. no dresses. i get to wear uniforms stitched still, but other dresses i buy ready to wear. the uniforms are mostly other kind of clothes - not cotton because it easily crumples. blouses are mostly polyester and cotton combined. have a nice day. ann

I would love to have the opportunity to have something custom made for me just once in my life, but that is a very expensive option here and therefore I've never had anything custom made yet. That said, I do prefer the natural materials over polyester material because I feel like it is cooler and that it also holds up a lot better than the man made materials in my honest opinion. That is the reason that I choose the way that I do.

Hi Professor!. Mostly I prefer every thing ready made because its more cheaper and they are so many cute cloth thats my tailor can not made it. There many item I can not by it ready like our national costume kebaya, its need to tailored because its really fit in body and its will not reach the effect if buy it ready to wear because its really signature of a body. I personally love cotton especially in tropic weather. In a girl with T-shirt and jeans. I will wear it every where if I had too but my mom will never allow that. For dress I prefer silk because its light, cozy and elegant.

My mother can stitch well. Still she is stitching in her 80s. she used to show her love to my father by stitching shirts to my father. My father show his love to my mother by wearing wife made shirts. I can also stitch well. But here we wear ready made dresses. Fro some school school festivals and cultural festivals I stitch dresses to my daughter. As I am particular about every millimeter they seem extra beautiful than ready made dress. I know cotton dress are un comparable with other dress. They are expensive and beautiful also. But I prefer polystyrene cloths. Because washing and ironing are easy.
