Cooking Whole Chicken - Skin on or off?

Hi, I've cooked a whole chicken both ways. I myself prefer to cook it in a pyrex dish w/cover w/the skin off in a bit of water, sauce/seasonings, and my husband likes it the same way but with the skin on. While the chicken isn't as moist when I cook w/the chicken skin off, I still think it's a lot more healthier.
I'm wondering what's your favourite way of cooking a whole chicken. Maybe throw in some spices/recipes too, hehe! ;-)

It has been forever since I have cooked a whole chicken. I think hubby would say skin on on the smoker. Pour the cavity full of Italian dressing. Peel the skin off after cooking, but actually, in the smoker or roasted on a rack, most of the fat will run off anyway. If I do not use the Italian dressing I will put sage, garlic, onions or I will use a product called Bell's Seasoning that has sage, rosemary, thyme and other stuff in it.

What is a smoker? I was thinking of purchasing a chicken rotator like I seen in the deli section in the grocery store, their meat is always really tender.

Keeping the skin on the chicken while cooking will help retain the flavors and keep your chicken moist. Wile the skin is the tastiest, it is also the most fatty. I would recommend keeping it while cooking but discarding it on your plate.
Try this easy rub the next time you cook chicken
Season Salt
Garlic Powder
Your favorite herbs ex. parsley or oregano
Brush a bit of olive oil on the pieces, sprinkle the rub and bake.
When cooking the whole chicken keep a small amount of water in the bottom of your pan and use a turkey baster, bast over the cooking period and keep it covered with tin foil while cooking. This will help the moisture to stay in your chicken.
Enjoy!!!

I hate Chicken with the skin on I prefer no skin even though I have cooked it both ways but I really prefer to grill the Chicken outside or inside on the George Foreman Grill.

Hi,
I prefer to cook whole chicken with skin On.at least the skin will
keep the chicken more fresh and the soup will be more tasty.
I like to cook chicken for my meal.
Sometimes when I am busy, I will simply marinate the chicken with
some herb and oyster sauce, then put it into the slow cooker and
cook for few hours, the chicken meat will be tender and delicious.

I cook it with the skin on as it adds flavour and keeps it moist. However I do remove the skin before eating as this is the fattiest part of the chicken.
For a plain roast chicken I just rub sea salt into it, I only add spices or herbs if I'm making a specific dish.
