So I've been wanting to get a tattoo for my daughter since before she was born, and I think this coming week I'm actually gonna do it. : ) My 2 ideas are either her footprint with her name (Tracie Kate) and DOB, or a crown with her name and DOB since she's my lil princess. : ) Which do you guys think would be better? And do you have any other suggestions? I want her name and DOB for sure - but just undecided as to the other part. And I wanna get it on my chest. Thanks. : )

Well my husband has a butterfly on his bicep with a ribbon just under the butterfly with his lil girls name in it. But I have seen people with their baby's foot prints on their back with their name and birth date, they are sweet even on men. I have also seen a guy have a lil girl tat on his ribs, the lil girl is catching a butterfly and it says under it the childs name and above it read Daddy's lil girl. There is alot, a friend has a Pink lily on his forearm that stands for his daughter Lilian "lily" for short. When it for someone you love, one can never go wrong.Just want to watch and make sure it is tasteful.

Thanks for the suggestions - the tatt your husband has sounds awesome. Sorry it took me so long to respond to my own question, I've been away dealing with some personal stuff. But I did get my tattoo - and I actually went a whole different direction than I had in mind. I got a "4 week" tatoo over a heart because my daughter is now 4 weeks old, and it just fit. I love it. : ) Thanks again.

I'd be interested to know why you need to have tattoo to celebrate, surely having a health child is reward enough? Still it's not my choice, and I guess a footprint sounds like a nice idea. I've not had much to do with tattoos is there any issue with distortion as you age. The only thing which you should really bear in mind is how many children are you going to have ? You don't want to have the tattoo in the center if you are going to have an even number of children, think about the configuration of a second or third design, and how much space the images may take up.
Best of luck with it.

I got my tatoo (it says "4 weeks" over a heart - you can kinda see it on my arm in my pic :) but the reason I wanted it (and I will probably get another one for her too) was because she's always going to be my baby girl, and I want a mark on me as a symbol of my love for her. And I'm good with just my one kid - and yes I'm grateful everyday to have my perfect, healthy little girl. :)
