Have you ever eaten really spicy food and you just want to wash your mouth with soap? Yeah, most of us have. I was just wondering what would be the best way to get the spice of your mouth/tongue?

Hi there.. Ive been doing this technique since I was young. Just drink milk or yogurt.. Milk has enzymes that neutralizes spicy foods.

I agree too, milk is the best but if I may add, don't make the mistake of using water when it really becomes unbearable, that will make it worst

I heard about using milk but didn't know why. The enzymes statement is really new to me thanks washor @louievill - Yeah I believe water is rejected by the spice, I don't know the chemistry aspect but it seems like water carries what remains of the liquids rejecting the burning sensation in your mouth... Is this right louievill?

Soap? Lol. I wouldn't do that. When i just ate a really spicy food i eat ice and just let it melt in my mouth. It somehow decrease the spicyness. :)

This is what I do as well to relieve the burning sensation The soap thing... just thought about it, never tried

I often have this experience simply because I love spicy and hot foods. Whenever, I wanted such taste out of my mouth or taste buds, then I use something sweet. Even plain sugar will do the job. Or perhaps you can have some chocolates. Perhaps there is something in the sugar that counters the spicy food. But I am not really an expert as to those things. I just based them on my experience.

Yeah that what I used to do as well. I think sugar gives temporary relief as it gives your sense of taste some distraction. While the chocolate helps because of the milk. I think thats what the link said But yeah it really is a pain and knowing what to do with it makes eating spicy food more exciting

Yes, I agree with them. Drinking milk or other dairy products is the solution. I suggest not to drink water for it will only scatter the spice all over your mouth down your throat.
